Is fapping in direct conflict with self-actualization?

1. I'm particularly talking about a man jerking off to internet porn.

2. Another variant would be a man jerking off, but without internet porn.

I noticed that it is addictive, time consuming and saps energy. It also has this other side to it- where it releases built-up tension, sexual or otherwise.

I've noticed that there is the buildup which lasts ~20x-40x more than the climax, which is usually 1-4 seconds, and then is half-minute of post nut clarity, and then a low energy and negative vibe if it was the second-third time in the day, or simply peace when it has been 5-7 days since I last fapped.

But there is dissatisfaction after the act, like I didn't get what I wanted. That this is too short and very mild compared to what I was expecting during the buildup.

Do you guys fap whilst on the self-actualization journey? Is it a setback or a necessary tool?

It's not that big of deal for me. Just don't do it more than once a day, and take some days off in between. A couple times a week seems to work best.

Don't forget, having sex actually takes a lot more time and energy.

As with most things, a lot depends on how you do it and how you frame it in your mind. For me there is no negative vibe associated with it. You can do it in healthy ways to rejuvenate yourself.

Nope. It's just as Leo says

And If it takes over your life or causes problems then try to address the inner issue that causes the obsession if it becomes one. Work on why you are vulnerable to over doing it (if you do). Same thing with porn. Porn can be enjoyed or left alone.

I personally am working on not using porn anymore, i think i have an addiction lol.

But having frequently an orgasm is shown to have profound impacts on the brain. You know.

People on nofap are reporting incredible result regarding social anxiaty, depression etc.

Also fappin could be a way to numb out your emotions, if you don't fap you will notice you are able to feel more emotions.

If you have a problem with porn addiction i would say go on a nofap and rebooting journey, this shit is serious.

And sexual energy can also be transmuted in your life. If you inform yourself in ancient practices, you can learn to circulate it through your body, it can be a very beautiful tool even to process emotional baggage.

I think it's impossible to do self actualization if you are addicted to porn.

@arlin I think addiction can not be overcome so easily as the nofap movement promises to do, and I'm saying this because I've tried it. Even if you do get rid of porn in your life, you'll find another thing to get instant gratification from like food, video games, alcohol, social media or whatever to compensate for your miserable life. These days I would say everyone is addicted to something because very few people are living truly passionate lives.

I would say porn, food or video games are not intrinsically bad, it all comes down to how you use them in your life.

I also agree with Leo on this:

If you tell yourself you're being seriously affected by your habit of jerking off, then guess what? it's going to affect you.

I don’t know if you are talking about porn but porn can have a negative effects on the long term. You basically bombard your brain with images that deplete your dopamine levels in your brain. That is a problem.

Well, if a girls involved, I would align it with self actualization. Preferably of the college early twenties demographic. In the porn industry, they refer to the money shot. There's nothing like it. And no substitute for that next level desire.

Porn is cuck. I think its better to fap from imagination or give a facial or money shot. Porn is cuckoldry. It sucks because its what we are subjected to asva young horny male. Its addicting. Avoiding porn is a plan.

Porn is cuck if you believe it's cuck but it's your own negative connotation you're attaching to it. Plenty of alpha males and pornstars themselves watching porn.
