Which countries in Sub-Saharan Africa are highest in Spiral Dynamics Development?

5 posts in this topic

I have been thinking about where different countries in Sub-Saharan Africa are at in their values development and was wondering at which stages they come in, as well as which countries in the region have the highest development. To my knowledge most countries in Sub-Saharan Africa are at stage purple/RED with several coming into stage BLUE. However I was wondering are there any countries that are at or coming into stage ORANGE? Perhaps South Africa, Nigeria and Botswana are at stage blue/ORANGE, but I could be wrong. Anyway I would like to have some feedback on this as I find how these countries can develop in the future very interesting.

If you want to include them, I've heard the Seychelles and Mauritius have relatively high levels of economic development, putting them probably at at a blue/ORANGE stage. Also, I'm sure there are relatively developed parts of countries like Kenya or Namibia, but these would be relegated to the wealthier areas of bigger cities.

I'd say overall Africa is still stuck mostly at a Purple/Red/Blue level of development, for a large number of reasons. One thing developed countries could do to help African countries to develop would be debt forgiveness.

On a side note.

There has actually been some relatively high conscious leaders in Africa post colonialism. Check out these two. Both of these men proposed great things for their countries and were tragically murdered.

Unfortunately many parts of Sub Saharan Africa are at the losing end of global capitalism. Its not as simple as categorizing these countries stage Purple/Red (which does play a significant role) without mentioning the role that exploitation and foreign intervention has played on the continent.
