That is actally a very good question. I'm actally not sure. I think it is possible, maybe if you have a higher dessire or passion then sex. You can contoplate that question and see if you get to an answer.

Buddhist monks live without sex and it seems like a lot of them are happy.

I totally agree.

I'd say that I am largely happy enough without it but the need still nags away in the background, rarely being a problem. I reckon with enough mastery, monks for example, you can be totally happy without it. It will be hard work to develop yourself to that point though.

@SQAAD Short answer: yes.

But it has a price. It demands an utterly rigorous spiritual discipline.

The question is why would anyone not want to have sex?

Just have sex and be happy what's the problem?

Some people, despite their best efforts fail to get sex. That's the problem. The next best thing is to develop mastery so that the feeling of lack can be sorted out.

I don't think a lack of sex is enough motivation to get you to a level where you no longer want sex.

Also getting there might take 30 years, what would you do during that time?

During that time you will be doing your spiritual practices.

What does a monk, a prisoner or a virgin does during that time? Some of them are even happier than people who engage in sex.

 That's you self-bias.

I can reverse this and ask you Why would anyone want to have sex? Leads to attachment, addiction ,suffering & never satisfies you for a long time.

Just abstain from sex and be happy. What's the problem?

@SQAAD

By nature your true nature is happiness-peace-joy-content.

The worldly ignorance has caused the illusion that happiness is something derived from outside and depends on external things.

Absolutely you can live a happy and contented life with out lust - lustful urges.

Lust is the easiest of all of the illusions that can dropped.

It doesnt require hatha-yoga breath watching.Nothing its very very easy simple.

You imagine as if its very difficult to achieve.

lust is not at all a base need to be happy or content.Lust has nothing to do with happiness or content.Lust has nothing to do with survival.

Food-Shelter-cloths-Medicines are the basic needs for survival.

Its purpose is for pro-creation not for pleasure.Nor seeing the opposite sex as a object of pleasure toy.

Sex is the activity of pro-creation if the couple chooses to have kids.

--------------------------------

The illusion that your happiness -joy is dependent on sense pleasures -money-power-name-fame you are terribly wrong mistaken deluded.

------------------------------

The world-movies-internet-education-your interaction with worldly people - everything influences the mind creates illusions is innocently believed taken as truth - real.

So read carefully choose the books wisely.

Choose wisely the people you be-friend with.

Drop watching movies.

Drop mastrubation.Drop watching porn.

See the opposite as your mother -god (its a bhavam).-Though I didnt practice this.

Hear only important news thats required.

Shun sense pleasures like poison - Ashtavakra.

Prathyahara - step 5 of pathanjali yoga sutra - withdrawing mind from senses.

With out mastery of senses - mind cannot be mastered.

Watch your desires-pleasure seeking thoughts-and realize the illusions.

Very inspiring & helpful post man!! I needed that.

I'm very confused. This modern culture indoctrinates you into believing that you need sex in order to be happy. But is that true? I don't really know to be honest. Nor do most of other people.

People just make assumptions & confuse it with truth.

What i came to realise is that the only way i can find an answer to my question is through personal direct experience. I feel kinda dissapointed from the answers that i gathered on the internet. I read tons of conflicting articles with contradictory conclusions. All this bs just leaves me more confused & anxious than before regretting for even reading those articles.

My ego fears suffering & that is why it wants to feel certain about this issue.

@Shaun Lmao if one can't conquer sex there's no way they can conquer spirituality

That's incorrect.

Want free coaching ? I m not into pick up but I m good with introvert advices.

The first pillar is feeling yourself as unique and work hard on yourself to the point of loving yourself so hard that you would be wanting to be with yourself.

That's the early inner work mindset

@SQAAD I'm sorry, I must be confused. I thought you wanted people's input. But then you argue with the responses you get, if they tell you what you don't want to hear. So clearly, you're here because you want us to help you convince yourself that you can spiritually bypass sex, and get rid of the desire so that you don't have to do the hard work of working through your issues.

Sorry, not how it works.
