How do you deal with heavily UNCONSCIOUS People

27 posts in this topic

Hello everyone.

How do you manage unconscious people in your life ?

I play in a band and in this period I'm suffering a bit the other members  unconscious behaviours and compulsive patterns.

They are very centred in Fame, Mooney, heavily addictions to cigarettes and porn, lot of talks on sex with girls and instagram images with hot girls and a strong body identification

I do not blame them or judge them I also have some addictions to work on.

After I experienced some shifts in consciousness and took my spiritual path damn seriously it feels uncomfortable to be with them because I see those things in a meaningless way.

My fear is also that unconsciously I can be influenced from their behaviours.

We have some probabilities to become famous in a specific music area and I think if it happes everything could get only worse worse with them . Their egos would be pumped to the stars . They often talk " when we become millionaires I will buy this and this..."

Sometimes for the sake of my spiritual health I think to leave them but i do not know if it is to extreme.

I leave you an article about this tooic. It's spoken by Sadhguru. It has really influenced me.

Maybe it can help also you.

Thank you and sorry for my English.

If you feel strongly influenced by them towards the bad side then yes, probably its bad. Otherwise if you can engage with them in activities, while maintaining your 'spiritual side', then no problem. Just be sure you're not mistaking snobism for spirituality. ;)

You deal with their unconsciousness by raising your own conscious.

Use them as a mirror to find the things you need to work on to raise your own consciousness instead of judging them or caring about their opinion of you

If you have a very good chance to make a lot of money, you might want to stick with it.  It could set you up financially for life and allow you to pursue your spiritual path much easier.  Your might be able to help raise your fellow band members consciousness and use fame to help spread love in some fashion.

I think don't waste your precious time. It's already hard to self-actualize + to have unconscious people around us is guaranteed to keep us stuck in mediocrity. Sure, you can learn from them but wouldn't you rather be around people who are better than you, empower you to make changes? I certainly would!

Great article. Speaking from experience I have dropped a lot of friends even ones I have had for nearly 10 years. Thieves, addicts, etc. It's easy to get yourself stuck around people going into a bad direction, but hard to find yourself with the right people going in a good direction. Most of my friends right now are online friends that practice personal development and I can use them as a resource to reflect and share insights with. I have one local friend now I see maybe once a month and we will go hiking or sometimes go bowling with him and his other friends. He is not into the same type of personal development stuff, but he isn't an addict and has good work ethic. I've actually been friends with him since about 3rd grade and we have always kind of had a friendship that would continue even with long periods of not talking. I do want to find more good local friends, but for now this is good for me. I feel the friend may be open to some personal development work in the future though, but it isn't anything I want to cram down their throat.

You know there is a lot of music that is stage green and etc. I am sure you could find other artists to work with to create something. You could even work together online. Not even someone you have to meet in person. Just a suggestion. Best of luck.

As you go up the ladder of higher spirituality, you learn to let others "BE", you give them freedom of expression, and you get yours.

Who is to say that your friends are not giving you a heads up on extreme behavior whether it's spiritual or worldly, seems to me a balance between both is the lesson you're in,

In my opinion situations like this are like passive smoke.

We try to be healthy but unconsciously we are inhaling the smoke of others.

Make them your teachers.

My favourite response in this thread.

This is the Home Run Hit. This is part of transcending your animal instincts, when surrendering is actually victory. Spiritual growth in ACTION rather than concepts and ideas. This kind of action is worth thousands of concepts and theory.

I speak from painful personal experience that I am still going through. I am yearning to convert the people who I deem dragging me down right now, into my teachers. Why are they here? Why have they entered me life? What are they here to teach me?

A stark reminder that we can't change the world, so we better and must change ourselves.

If you can do this, you have become the spiritual equivalent of Mozart.

This 100%. You will not change their mind so don't even try. But if you're open minded and receptive, you can learn so much about yourself by observing how you react to unconscious behavior. @Giulio Bevilacqua

You don't. Even they don't deal with themselves, so why should I?

If the band is not so important - drop it.

If your conviction realisation is strong enough you wont be affected by what they think speak. And that doesnt mean go and assosciate with them even if your conviction is strong.

At one stage one has to avoid even the company of good people-spiritual people and be alone focus on the practice till the goal is reached.

Not only just realisation but complete annihilation of the hidden desires.

Only then one is said to be safe.

Yes the path is slippery if one think he is progressesing 4 steps the fall will be 8 steps back.

Caution is always needed. You are alone in this path.
