My marijuana trip. Very thankful.

I took my first ever psychedelic yesterday. It was Californian marijuana. I had set the intention of using the psychedelic only for insight and truth purposes. I was worried that this wouldn't get me anywhere in my spiritual path but about 30 minutes in, I started tripping.

I told a friend of mine from online that I was starting to trip. This friend was very experienced with psychedelic use so, I was fortunate enough to have him babysit me during the trip. He helped me guide through it and he helped me find a lot of insights.

One part of the trip that I loved was when the friend who I've only known for a while, started to feel like a very good old friend.  It felt as if he's helped me through this trip a million times over. I was so happy to see him after what literally felt like an eternity. I wanted to catch up with him, make sure he was okay. I was so happy he was here because I felt so lonely in that state. Like how God is really the only "thing" so imagining that there's another person here with me made me so happy. I started telling him that I loved him, I miss him and that I would miss him after the trip is over.

Another part, I started to imagine a person, alone, in the front row seat of a Cinema, munching on some popcorn in front of a gigantic movie screen. It seemed like he enjoyed every single moment of the movie. I knew that the person watching the movie was me and the movie he was watching was my life.

I had insightful moment when I started to feel love for everything. Just loved them for the fact that they existed. The love I felt for everyone was coming from a state of complete understanding, acceptance and forgiveness.

Multiple times, I was in a state where I lost all context of reality but then regain it all instantly and with all the context coming back, came along all the worries and fears I have in this reality.

Every feeling I had during the trip felt so eternal. It was also like everything that's happening in this trip has happened a million times over but at the same time felt like the firs time.

I should add that at the beginning of the trip, it felt as if I was very sleep deprived. Usually, I would feel kinda out of place from my body when I'm sleep deprived. Then, it started to seem as if I was in one of my dreams. Finally, my whole perspective started to tilt only to then become aware that I'm tripping and awake after an eternity. It felt like my body was in a water chamber, looking outside of the chamber's small window and seeing my whole life and perspective.

@Swagala Good, those are some legit mystical insights.

Just be careful not to get hooked on weed.

If you liked that, you will love mushrooms & LSD. And those you can't get hooked on.

I notice craving for weed for about 2-3 days after use. But really after that not much. I have used it for exploration of the same things. It can work it just depends on the persons reaction to it. I suggest doing it alone. If you can find a peaceful walk to go on uninterrupted that would make a great experience to get in your head.

@Leo Gura marijuana addictiveness is comparable to that of caffeine or even less, So I don't think it is a big deal.

That's just not true.

Weed addiction is a serious problem for many people.

Probably depends on addictive tendencies, like me.... But I'm curious about this.... Why is it the only psychedelic that seems to be addictive? The euphoria? The ease of use?  The particular receptors it activates?

Maybe because its easy to get, omnipresent, most "legal" substance, easy to use - and quite mild in his effects so its kind of a social substance. I once were addicted to for a year and it was a serious problem as my motivations were pretty down at that time - but i still could growth spritiually with it and my creative abilities were elevated - it was pretty easy to be in the moment -  still happy that I am not depending on it anymore.

@Leo Gura Also, many people are suffering from caffeine addiction

Anyways read this article http://www.drugsense.org/tfy/addictvn.htm

There is a table at the end , I attached it

I also read in a well known pharmacology book that its relative addictiveness is 2 whereas heroin is 5 and no addictiveness is 1

I didn't do a lot of research about this topic so I don't know for sure.

@ahmad ibdah Weed is chemically safe and psychologically dangerous. It's very easy to become psychologically addicted to it in order to avoid the natural emotional struggle of maturation. I've been there and I've seen several cases as well. I'd say that more than 95% of everyone I met who used weed were trying to postpone adulthood. And the effects were ugly: longer and scarier anxiety attacks to the point where weed was the first thing to appear in the mind. Believe it or not, ditching weed was as hard as ditching alcohol for me.

Thinking that weed is not addictive is too naive. You won't find the root causes of weed addiction on its chemicals. It's a sneaky drug.

@seeking_brilliance Marihuana is not really a psychedelic, it works by altering a completely different system in your body. Perceived effects may be somewhat similar at lower doses, but the mechanism of action is not. Marihuana doesn't act on a serotonin system at all, psychedelics don't act on the cannabinoid system at all. And it's the serotonin system that is connected to healing and preventing addictions.

It's just bundled with psychedelics because of its low harm-risk, low addictiveness and the fact of being used by the indigenous cultures.

Smoking is a more habit-forming route of administration. It seems that addiction is more likely to happen when using high-THC, low-CBD strains of marihuana or smoking large amounts.

@ahmad ibdah Research the anecdotal data. Many people struggle with weed addiction.

@ajasatya

I see. Looks like it's more psychological than physical. Believing a thing will be an escape from suffering is a strong urge. For me Even LSD was building up this urge at one time.

@Leo Gura  I will do. But the strange thing is that I didn't even find a lot of scientific articles talking about this topic, strange.

You would be surprised how quickly weed can hook you, even if you're on the path and doing well and shit. Speaking from experience, it was a pain in the ass to get off that stuff. Not nearly as bad as porn though (for me at least).

Everything is drugs, because everything alters consciousness in some way, drugs tend to change the whole filter..

And addictions are ego based, not really inherent in a substance.

If you use weed as a sacrament, use it to meditate, I doubt you feel the need to do it again a lot, because you'll feel the need to integrate the experience and it shouldn't even result in craving per se. It's the perfect psychedelic light.

I'm a frequent weed user, most of the time I smoke with the intent of learning, experimentation and to explore spiritual insights. Weed can definitely be used for spiritual purposes but it's definitely not as potent as other classic psychedelics unless you take enough of it with breaks in between (5 days). I tend to use cannabis to subtly change my perception of reality, I smoke it frequently in threshold doses, and I'm being very picky with the strains.

It takes me several months to smoke a batch of ~5 grams all by myself.

Depending on the strain and what you do when you use it, cannabis will be addictive. If you use it to escape your problems then you will get cravings much faster than if you use it for spiritual purposes.

What makes weed addictive IMO is that it can easily become a certain role in your life if you use it to escape you will get hooked much quicker than if you use it for spiritual purposes. You can use weed for productivity as well, a threshold dose of weed takes me deeper into meditation and makes me more musically creative, but see, that's exactly how it becomes a part of your life and then its quite hard to stop.

What's fundamentally addictive is not the weed itself, but the opportunity to instantly subtly change sober perception without harm and commitment of emotional labor. The rest of its addictive potential lies in how you use it and what you use it for.

Love it thank you ?. I use similar amounts to you daily, but maybe only 60% is for spiritual purposes. Although if I do it for fun it tends to turn into something spiritual because that's where the mind goes

YES WEED IS ADDICTIVE

i quitted weed in 1st of august doing cold turkey approach

its my 22nd day sober

the first week was the toughest one

it has psychological withdrawal effects like anxiety and panic attacks ,nightmares...

also physiological one in my case : not being able to eat , loss of appetite and problems digesting food , not being able to sleep ,

Cbd DIDN'T HELP IN MY CASE to relief anxiety , but flower of passion (paciflora) and swimming and skating was what helped me relax as i didnt have enrgy to actually run .....

i was the first one thinking i cant e hooked to this ,and hating on my friends using it everyday

until life put me in tough situation and made a SLOW mistake of taking it as a relief

SO OPEN YOUR EYES MY FRIEND ITS NOTT COFFEE  its way more severe than that

as long as you use it to self actualize its cool but the thing is its easy to get hooked because you can go on your daily chores normally when the body get used to it , in my case helped me focus studying after a breakup ut then fucked up everything .... like a GAUSS curve .

i used LSD like twice and you cant get addicted to it for self development , because its much heavier

you cant go to work on acid , you cant sleep and relax on acid ....

AND HAS MORE INTERESTIN INSIGHTS

so yes @Leo Gura is right its alright JUST WATCH OUT NOT TO GET ADDICTED TO THAT PLEASURE ......

its out of topic , but THANKS LEO the life purpose concept was what helped me drop and focus on working in my full potential and start that autodidact audio engineering i was dreaming about , NOW free of anxiety i can finally focus in doing THE HARD WORK thank you a lot
