My Life Plan

10 posts in this topic

My plan:

-Drop out of society

-Live as a hermit

-I have government assistance for my disability

-Enroll in a program to pay off my student loans

-Take care of my aging mom, live with her

-Become a freelance editor

-Quit smoking and drinking

-Stay in the house, only leave if I must

-Do mantras throughout the day

-Meditate

-Eat two meals a day

Is that in line with Buddhist teachings? Does that sound like a plan?

Your probably gonna need some reading material. The manifesto "Industrial Society and Its Future" is a good place to start.

Considering you want to live as a hermit, and live with your mom, sounds like these are vague desires

You could:

1) Create a timeline for these goals, like it's explained in Leo's Chapters and phases video

2) Get more specific about what you want, and the steps that it will take to get there.

I guess you can sort of say that is in line with Buddhist teachings though

sound silly for me.

if you're interested in that style, no problem! but I think most probably,  you're imitating Buddha, and when you're doing that you're just an unactualized copy, not the authentic one!

Sounds good, just do it ... start right now.

A few things to consider if you haven’t already-

What do you mean when you say “drop out of society”? You can never isolate yourself completely unless you’re in the Himalayas or some remote island of that sort. Its a noble goal. Thus learn to keep the boundaries of involvement with society VERY clear.

  • Become SPECIFIC. Specific ways in which you “drop out of society”.
  • Is celibacy your plan?
  • What would your day look like?
  • What kind of a diet? Vegetarian, vegan, raw Vegan?
  • What would be your guiding values?
  • And you say you’d do “mantras throughout the day”. Does that mean you’ll be doing your mantras even when you’re involved in some kind of an activity? How would you manage that? If not then how would you plan your day to maximise your practice?

Have you considered these questions?

  • Written them down for yourself? Have a strategy?
  • And do you plan to do all these at once? Start with them all together?

You talk like the typical NEET from 4chan.

Do you think you're disabled enough to have a disability pay?

Your plan is OK only if you tried living in society and you hate it.

It seems pure laziness for socializing, fear, like hikikomoris.
