Considering that all existential questioning (and all questioning in general) must happen on the level of thoughts, then of course it's relative. 

Existential questioning and contemplation is primary for letting go of non-truth and emptying the cup of delusion. And both the existential questioning and the delusion are happening in the relative.

It is like the one thorn that you use to remove the other thorn that's stuck in your finger. Once you use the thorn of contemplation/existential questioning to remove the other thorn of delusion, you can throw both thorns away. And there, you are clear enough approach the absolute. But you need the one thorn to remove the other, which are both happening on the relative level.
