@Leo Gura The youth is quite Orange/Green a bit or normal orange.

Yet, yes most are blue/orange with some the elderly seeming to be quiet red sometimes. Beijing even has some green elements mostly through foreigners living there.

yep but you have to consider that Beijing and Shanghai are old cities with alot of Western influence, but China is huge... the people in the rural areas which is like 90% arent lucky enough to afford Green values.

I've watched the video - you spent a lot of time combating the basic ideas that most YouTube and twitter warriors spin around - which is a good thing, but far from advanced.

I was mostly reflecting about the second part where you put forth the idea that government must be for everyone and that the purpose should be the raising of consciousness.

Now, of course, I have no problem with that ideal but in reality the problem with what you're saying lies in game-theory. It's a prisoners dilemma.

Whoever gives up first will likely not survive and nor will his ideals in the long run. Its like in a government of lions and gazelles, we are preaching very hard to the gazelles to think of the poor lion cubs and stop running from the lions... Soon there will be no gazelles and funny enough lions will disappear soon after.

My point is that, selfish games are part of what maintains a balance in the world.

Raising of consciousness can only come once moral boundaries between self and the other have been defined, and the survival of the self (be it individual or group) is guaranteed.

Any polical model must care about this first if it wants to succeed.

@Rilles y this is what I thought, yet is urbanisation not prevelant? I've been to Shanghai for a couple of days, yet mostly as a tourist. I lived in Beijng though for 6 months. AlsoI visited, Xiamen and the venice of China I forgot the name and the trip was quite random.

Would love to see a Green China, they actuslly built the largest telescope not sure when to explore life on other planets.

Pollution was abnormal in Beijing. I could nor even see the mall across the street sometimes.

Higher educated Chinese in their twenties care a lot about the environment. I have had conversations about it with them myself. Eventually those people will rise to power. It will take a few decades though.

Youre right about that, cities are growing extremely fast, because the workers who build them have no rights and work 16 hours a day. I hope to see a stage Green China someday too, it could be the most beautiful country on the planet to be honest, its a long way to go though, or maybe not, who knows. Pollution is so terrible, but apparently theyve started building giant air filtration towers, its pretty cool, look it up.

@Rilles That would be nice, other larger cities seem to have a problem with pollution too. I'll check it out. For e.g Paris.

Im reaching out about cults. I am in a large Korean cult that seems on the surface harmless and helpful and even a flat, non pyramidal organization. But after watching Leo's video a few other bells went off and Leo urged to folks reach out here.

They have tried to remove bad press on Maum Meditation and seemed to have scrubbed it from wikipedia but still have some harsh reviews on very few other forms such as redit. Now it seems that the name has changed to Mediation USA still no results on wikipedia. Sense this is a world wide organization, I do not understand why they went with that name, maybe because the founders live here in the US?

Of course I really like the mediation and have reached the higher levels and see lot of value in the teachings, but it is a cult and I have known this for few years. Yes I do have an addictive tendencies so I am addicted to this method of subtracting negative minds (thoughts & memories).

Any way it really sometimes seems like Leo is talking directly to me in his vlogs, how could he know about the wart on my back? I really digress here to say I have learnt in mediation that every thing is in my mind and is my responsibility not my moms or dads or friends or partners responsibility. Not even Societies, but society may have helped a lot to program my mind.

Sometimes this realization of total responsibility can make me feel bad about myself to know this, and maybe this is forcing me to try and change. Am I really changing or just being brainwashed? This mediation method is guided and this can seen like brainwashing.

Love this journey Leo is sharing with the world.

Cheers,

Enzo

I agree, some of the points seemed very trivial from a European perspective, like "wtf, so American" :D

I appreciated the historical perspective about tribal warfare, the point about government also dealing with collective ego's, and the detailed explanation about inclusiveness though.

@Leo Gura Have you seen this video by Leftist political commentator Michael Brooks? Excellent analysis on Marxist/Socialist thought in the context of Ken Wilbur's Integral Theory, as well as dismantling plenty of the IDW B.S.

@Captain black1 Yes, I saw it earlier this week.

I'm glad he's exploring Wilber's work, but Michael Brooks still doesn't understand the significance of Wilber's work and what Spiral Dynamics / developmental psychology means for politics.

Michael is in high stage Green, but he's a bit too attached to Marxism, socialism, and the progressive movement to move into Tier 2. He's still operating at Tier 1 thinking. It's fine, but there's a higher level.

Of course Michael makes valid critiques of the IDW and conservatives. But there are also important critiques of Marxism which he is missing. For example, one of the biggest critiques of Marx is his materialism. Materialism is false. Marx actually bastardized Hegel. Marx took Hegel's masterpiece philosophy -- which was idealist and quasi-nondual -- and lowered it by turning it materialistic and atheistic.

A political philosophy based on materialism and atheism cannot possibly work in the long term. It will be fundamentally limited by misunderstanding the true metaphysics of reality.

The whole trick with going to the highest levels of politics is being extremely careful not to get hung up on any pet ideology, whether Marxist, capitalist, or whatever. All ideology is limited and partial. Tier 2 politics is going beyond ideology.

For Michael to move into Tier 2, he'd have to go through a painful process of dropping stage Green. This won't serve his immediate survival agenda as a political analyst.

He's still a bit too intellectually arrogant to move into Tier 2. He'll need some mystical experiences to open him up and humble him.

@Leo Gura True. All ideologies that stem from talking apes will be flawed.

But on the Hegel/Marx point, even if Hegel POV is more ontologically and metaphysically sound, Marx’s analysis brought about the origins of many things like social security, workers rights, decommodifying certain aspects of our society out of private hands(ie education, healthcare...except in USA lol).

Hegel’s view on universal mind is music to the ears for us mystics, and might be the long term goal for humanity in how we relate to reality and each other, but a synthesis of Marx’s work in the immediate future will be equally important if we stand any chance on suriving the coming climate catastrophe and resurgance in far right nationalism.

Do I hope that this new trend of Silicon Valley guys doing vipassana retreats/LSD, and Billionaires at DAVOS doing mindfulness retreats will somehow give them mystical experiences that will end their exploitative greed? Yea. But it hasn’t yet, and highly doubt that it will without a highly mobilized and grassroots movement challenging their power, just as it was in the civil rights, abolitionists etc etc.

Thanks for your work btw! Been a long time YT subscriber/lurker on the forum. Your book list years ago prepared me for my psych degree in college lol. Excited to see where the conscious politics series goes.

Re: Nazis election blog post

Trumps speak (I didnt watch everything) was interesting and of course devilry. But he didnt say over the top racist stuff. He seems to be entertaining and very confident. I can see how people want to root for him. He presents himself as if he does what he promises and gets the results he wants. Action action action. I know a lot of people were frustrated with the former president so they like him for a change. And his arguments seem logical on the surface.

The video of Hitler didnt convey your point for me really. Of the things you listed only very few were in this (short) video.

demagoguery (maybe), collective self-deception, group think, cult psychology (maybe), ideology, egotism, devilry, ignorance, unconsciousness, selfishness, division, projection, scapegoating, demonization, judgment, denial, self-bias, confirmation bias, corruption, xenophobia, racism, and fear.

I dont know what self-bias is. You might meant self-serving bias. Which I wouldnt say was evident in here as well.

If you just wanted some random video of him then ok I get your point. But then you could've just as well put a picture.

Compared to Trump (joking, confident) Hitler seemed sad. Like he is in a very bad situation, mustering together his last motivation. Speaking to a broken nation.

In the end it is neither Trump nor Hitler who is to blame, just ego, nature and survival.

Looking forward to the new video!
