Do People Here Actually Achieve Real Life Goals?

14 posts in this topic

Hey guys,

I'm in quite the crisis right now, and I would like you all to help me out with something if you can. I have the massive fear that this shit doesnt work at all, and that people on here never actually accomplish any "real life" or lets say "orange" goals, like financial independence etc.

Since I started SA, my life hast just turned to super shit. I went from "normal" (a.k.a studying, prospect of high paying 9to5, normal hobbies, friends, some addictions) to utterly wrecked, cant seem to fathom working in 9to5 at all, cant concentrate, severely depressed, landed in a mental hospital, started getting into dept, suicidal etc.

Either I did everything totally wrong, or this is all a big money grabbin sheme, or I am in the fall before the rise? I don't really know. I don't know what to do, where to start. I feel like it is all hopeless.

Can you guys :

a) give me some advice on what to do?

b) tell me, if you yourself actually accomplished big stuff through self actualization, tell me a bit about your journey?

I am thankful for anything you can do to help. I severly need it right now.

@Shroomdoctor The reason why your life has become like that is exactly because you're doing the work correctly.

You're in the phase of deconstructing your old life, beliefs, and behaviours, what are you expecting?

What I think is needed for you the most right now is to realise that beliefs are very important. Most people who follow Leo, tend to fall into the trap of, ironically, 'believing' that beliefs are the enemy, so they get stuck in a loop of delusion, something like this: "I can't trust beliefs because beliefs are not true".

Belief is not the enemy, belief is the engine that runs your entire life. Without belief, you can't move in life, that's why you're stuck.

So, instead of stopping using beliefs, just start using more nuanced and better ones, more compatible with your life situation.

Belief is just a tool, the trap is to mistake it for reality.

I don't want to keep going because I don't know if what I thought about your issue is true, but I hope that helps someone who is in need.

I'd be glad to answer any further questions if my assumptions were correct.

Honestly i would do some introspection to see what's wrong, what you're doing wrong and what you want from life. I'm starting to see that just doing what makes us happy, is how we be happy. It seems obvious on the surface but I really had to realize this from a lot of suffering.

A goal takes undivided focus, passion, persistence, desire, faith and strategy. Which of these are you missing?

Observe your thoughts and beliefs in this situation, try not to identify with them. Notice, they are just thoughts, not reality. I would try a letting go exercise from david r hawkins or sitting in nature and doing mindfulness meditation. both work for me

Another thing is, take baby steps. I think often we try too hard to do everything and big things all at once, but really we just need to take one step at a time. The 1% increases everyday, and in a couple months you will see big progress.

Like when you're bench pressing you start with the bar and it takes like a whole year to get to 135 lb bench. 45 -> 135.

Also check your fundamentals, eating, sleeping, moving, friends?  I find when any of the 4 is out of balance I can get pretty depressed

Are you spending too much time inside? Nature is a biggie

You're a smart guy, I've seen your posts before. You're just in a funk. Don't worry. Your psychology needs refining and you're hurt. Keep at it, you'll get to it eventually.

You also need to go through a self-discovery process, who are you, what do you want, what makes you happy, what people do you click with, what is the meaning of life? what is your meaning?

Fuck unrelated self-improvement for sometime and just focus on doing you and being happy and from there build a foundation of success/whatever you want.

There is no quick fix, you need to continuously put in the work everyday. Patience, love.

we'd need to go a little deeper. feel free to send me a pm and we can take a closer look at your life.

yes. these are my accomplishments in chronological order:

  1. dropped toxic habits
  2. enlightenment
  3. a wonderful marriage
  4. an amazing job

what i am working for (also in chronological order):

  1. moving to canada
  2. having children
  3. being an amazing father and building a lovely family
  4. getting involved in big philanthropic causes, like reforestation, education and world hunger

this is my journey: i work hard.

this is my daily schedule: i'm either sleeping, eating, working, studying or spending time with my wife.

if you're still wasting time and fooling yourself into thinking that you want to live well, it means that you haven't fully grasped what Life is.

who are you?

Most of the topics discussed here are quite advanced.

Be very strategic about what you consume at what time of your life.

Leo always advocates acing life before you embark on this deeper journey. Do the basics first, and then come back. You need a sound basis for the advanced stuff. Leo did this as well. He earned lots of money with an Online Business, watched Tony Robbins, did PickUp etc. etc.

Don't really like to do this, but maybe it can help

Before Self-Actualization:

  • Super needy for love and relationships/friendships
  • Fearful about everything new or threatening to what I lacked emotionally
  • Anxious about everything, couldn't think of the future without crying
  • Addicted to Porn/Masturbation/Shows/Video games/Junk Food
  • No job, no passion and no perspective for the future

Nowadays

  • I don't even know if I want a relationship anymore, and I'm enjoying spending all my time alone.
  • Fear isn't an issue, because I know how it works now, it's uncomfortable at best (except for one single thing 9_9).
  • I literally can't be anxious, it's not part of my life anymore, except for very big things (and even then it's very mild and pass quickly).
  • Only addicted to games and junk food now, but they are only still there because I resist something very badly (and need to distract myself a lot 9_9).
  • Studying a field I'm passionate about, and have multiple exciting perspective for the future.

God is love

Whoever lives in love lives in God

And God in them

Hi @Shroomdoctor This stuff works.

I started watching Leo's videos on January 2017, and on September 2017 i started my own (stage orange) biz online: (I am like a human scanner, I take advantage of weak markets). I still work at ''McDonalds'' but i have a side income.

I had this idea for almost 9 years. But i had the balls to do it only until i started taking kinda seriously personal development.

I fired almost all of my friends. And sometimes i missed them. But fuck them. I am a lone wolf and it is great!

This is a very good thing. Specially if you are young.

This is bad sorry to hear man.

a) give me some advice on what to do?

-Exercise and eat healthy.

-Go to  bed at the same time and wake up at the same time.

-Meditate (daily).

-Make money even if it is at a 9 to 5. Do it thinking it is temporary, or do it thinking you are there to some day be the owner of the biz.

-Nutritionally i have actually accomplished big stuff through self actualization.

-Found my Life Purpose: Art

-And i am developing a 10 year plan to escape wage slavery that OFC includes art.

My life is pretty great right now, my stage orange biz blends perfectly and synergically with my ''McDonalds'' job. It is totally customized to me. No one else in the whole universe could have done it except me. I can stay where i am and cruise through life. But that's not the plan. I have a big list of projects.

@Shroomdoctor

Start with deconstructing the belief that everything is meaningless.

Find out the true meaning of life.

I've been through some pretty hard times myself on the actualization journey. Since then, I have had successes and am in a great place right now. But at one time my life fell apart and I was super depressed, anxious, unmotivated, and nihilistic. My advice would be to get professional help. Therapy doesn't mean something is wrong with you, just that you are navigating unfamiliar territory and need help for a while. Getting advice on a forum for heavy emotional stuff may not be the wisest solution.

I would ask how things went from "normal" to "super shit"; like, what factors were involved in that change?

Also, I'm sending you bro hugs man, depression is horrible.

I personally haven't ever put in enough work to accomplish something big like financial independence. Over the last few years, my income has gone down and so have my stress levels. My happiness has gone up. I never threw myself into SA in a heavy way, I just watch the vids, reflect, journal, make small changes here and there.

Based on the limited information you gave us, it's really hard to know what you should do. I personally empathize with you, though! I started a business many years ago and had to wade through massive amounts of shit to get it off the ground. I kept going through all the really hard days and just pushing and pushing and pushing. I found out that it did help my community quite a bit but I had to give everything to make it happen.

I have a theory though, difficult and maybe impossible to prove, but here goes:

- If it's not working, you must gather more data and learn more systems. It's possible you need a paradigm shift. Learning sets you free.

- If it's still not working, you may need to realize that it's not the right time for this.

We judge each other these days based on material success when often it is a lot of lucky line ups. Understand that you are more than this judgment.

Also, between you and me, money doesn't give you the happiness you crave. I haven't found out what does. Maybe Leo knows.

I hope you are able to push on in this tough world.
