Identification with awareness

With subtle realization of what i am...

When i start to identify with Awareness of the current happening instead of the story of what's ongoing... Would that also reflect the ego initially showing and living this understanding?

 

Asking due to this one:

I remind you again, the only difference between the sage and yourself is you see the world and you identify with it. You think it's real. A sage sees the world and he knows it's a superimposition upon Consciousness. So he identifies with Consciousness.

Initially the ego may think that it has had this understanding, but as the understanding goes deeper, it is seen that the ego is just a self-thought (self-image) - ie, not something (someone) that can really understand at all.
