Question related to the letting go technique

Could someone, who has experience with it, explain the letting go technique which David R. Hawkins was proposing?

My understanding is that: recognize a feeling, be aware of the feeling, stay with the feeling until it dissolves or becomes lighter, do not try to modify the feeling.

It may be practiced daily at a specific time or on demand when strong feeling arises.

I'm not sure if you are aware of it, but we have a few threads about it already ;)

I think there is more than one way to go about Letting Go, but the essence of it is - you have to get to a point where the problematic situation/feeling is completely let go of. Forgotten. Gone. You don't even really remember what it was, that's how gone it should be. You just have to stop caring about the thing basically :)

@okulele yeah, I am aware of these threads, there are my comments. I also have read the book :) but I feel I am missing something. 

Maybe, I have to let go of the missing of something feeling. Anyway, thank you for the input.

@dimitri What technique are you familiar with? If it's for example Self-Inquiry, do Self-Inquiry on feelings only.

@okulele thank you. I tried the Sedona method. But I am wondering whether it's really the letting go or more of resistance. 

Next time I'll try to put just awareness on a feeling till it dissolves (without using the Sedona questions).
