It doesn’t matter if its true or not, it only matters if its beneficial

If it contributes to personal power (taking action on your values) towards healthy goals (fitness, better relationships, self-confidence, self-actualisation, etc) then it doesn’t matter if the underlying belief is ‘True’ or not.

Discuss.

Wow.  You got a good insight here!

I frame this as utility as a criterion for reasonable acceptance vs. truth as as a criterion for reasonable acceptance.

People get so hung up on truth.  Truth isn’t always relevant unless you’re making it so.  You’re clinging to truth.

I think this would be useful to the extent that you dont get lost in the untruth. If you are able to utilize the falsehood to achieve a goal while simultaneously holding it in your mind that it is a falsehood, this will allow you to, at some point, transcend the falsehood now that you have achieved your goal.

If it’s true and the Ego doesn’t like it — it becomes false.

If it’s false and the Ego likes it — it becomes true.

But see there’s gotta be an Ego-Mind that makes the truth/dream distinction.  Being doesn’t make or cling to distinctions.  Egos cling to distinctions.  Minds cling to distinctions.

And what is there without the appearance of an Ego-mind?

Even the question “what is there?” is a question of the Ego-Mind.

Being has no need to ask “what is there?”

E.g., When you’re watching the sun go down on the beach just being — it’s the Ego-Mind that intrudes “what’s the significance of this?”

And just like that BOOM! You get thrown back into hell as the devil himself ready to fight consciousness and do enough good to replace god ?

question is: to whom does it matter? to whom does it not? the purpose hallows the means is very thin ice without distinction but it also is with distinction. the moment you know the belief is false, for a truth seeker it’s over. but you see then you would already need to know what belief is truth! so it depends on the truth in the false if you can apply wrong (untrue) means to a right (true) purpose.

there is also: the way/path is the goal

In other words, truth is irrelevant. We would have to agree to disagree :)

Agreed. I wouldn't be trying to figure out the workings of the mind and the ego if it wasn't because there is a desire to do so.

It's not a matter of whether you are or are not delusional it is a matter of how delusional you are.
