Show me your results

23 posts in this topic

Just a thought - I may be wrong but;

I've been following this forum and I noticed that many of you guys have no results. I mean, I'm also struggling with this and have only moderate results. .

For example in 'Show us your art' topic the art is often beautiful but then I look on your subscriber count and see like 1-50 subscribers. I haven't met single person with more subscribers.

Like; I'm still an intermediate results maker, I have music youtube channel with 46 subsribers, 13k total views and second channel 4,5k subscribers, but in niche that I don't care at all). I know that youtube isn't everything.  I've earned like 4000 PLN ~ 1200 USD from music in 2018. I still earn a living from tutoring chemistry which I don't want to do.

I feel like many of us (including me) are too little pragmatic and we follow our passions, but our marketing suck. It's due to Leo's rants against materialism and now we are spiritual and all, but we suck at business. And we often indulge here on forum to procrastrinate even more too.

But maybe I'm wrong? Show me your results!

@Amadeusz People who get serious results are not going to hanging around on a forum. They will be working on and enjoying their results.

If you want to be successful you need a serious business and marketing strategy. Dicking around on YT or a forum is not gonna cut it.

You need to get very serious about your work. Stop dicking around and go create something that offers massive value to the world, and do it smartly. Passion is no substitute for poor business strategy.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

Stop projecting your lack of results on to this forum, go do your thing. Pointless thread is pointless.

i used to eat lots of trash food, drink alcohol and smoke weed. i didn't have a job and all my money came from a paid scholarship.

i lived with my parents and was addicted to pornography and masturbation. i used to think of women as sexual toys and i suffered from serious low self-esteem issues.

a typical crappy life xD

@Amadeusz I guess it all really boils down to how one perceives "success".

"Results" don't have to reveal themselves only through the digital realm and through the domain of social media, etc. For me personally, writing spontaneously in solitude and performing live, always felt more alive than turning it into an online business which felt slightly like a distraction to me when I knew I could just take myself on a bus with my instruments and travel to avant-garde open mics and have a direct experience, therefore direct results. (I was quite young when I started, I began playing open mics when I was about twelve with a musician relative of mine, who brought me into the scene, then gradually I started doing it completely on my own through adolescence, sometimes would bunk school to play in coffee shops, etc..)

But fame & fortune doesn't always reach "success" and actually, not all of us even desire or want to acquire "4.5K subscribers" and all this because we'd rather just enjoy the experience. I think hunting for followers can often turn predatory or possessive/obsessive. I much prefer just creating music and performing music out in the world in atmospheric public settings or simply on the streets to grow connections that way.. Rather than have my eyes glued to a screen, contemplating "how I can best promote my music as fast as possible to gain global recognition/approval whilst waiting for the comments and likes." I find it is much more of a genuine and authentic experience when I am out in the world doing what I love to do and directly sharing with people whom it may resonate with, but that's just how I roll dude, and we all roll differently. I suppose I am just happiest when I am creating from the heart and then sharing with people and hopefully inspiring them and touching their hearts, and whenever it does, I receive their feedback, eye to eye, I feel I accomplished something much deeper, rather than just constantly checking YouTube ratings or whatever.

One of my YouTube channels has about 200 subscribers and about 50k views. (I don't know how it happened exactly I just checked one day and was like "Well okay o.o") But like, that's enough for me. Honestly, local recognition is even enough for me. I mean I make some decent bucks on the side, and that's all well and good and call me old school, but truly most of all as long as I'm inspiring, energizing and healing others, through what I'm creating and performing, then I am most content. Even sometimes knowing that what you create made a huge impact on just one person  or one little town, or a small group of people on an island somewhere can mean a whole lot more than 4K usernames with bubble heads and picture icons, folks.

My father keeps telling me “Show me your results or go back to school”. Im telling him, promising him that in the next 10 years he will swallow those words in the midst of the constant pride he has for what my hard work has made me become.

I dont have time for this

@Sahil Pandit The problem with my dad is that he does not believe that the work that im doing will make me successful, so out of the expectation that I will fail he keeps trying to convince me that I should return to safety. I quit school 18 months ago and I have not at all generated any material success since then, but he obviously cant step into my shoes and see where my work is really going.

Edit: It seems that the only thing that will relieve his worry would be to see results being generated from me, or me doing as he says. There is nothing I can do to really convince him other than drawing out proof, which I have tried extensively

@Igor82 Do you have a plan to integrate stage Orange?

Through marketing my passion. I went right at merketing after quitting school, but I quickly realised that my hapiness lied somewhere elise. Im inspired to make my living from something I love. I dont want to earn money just for money, just want to have a practical income that reduces all financial blockage that stands in the way of my purpose.
