Being in the world amongst those with different world views, how can one stay grounded?

At the end of the day we all do things because we desire to do them.

You could call a purpose or goal your desire to get somewhere.

There is no reason to do anything, but there is no reason to not do anything.

Be carefully select what group you are in and knowing yourself by years of observation.

First what do you mean by grounded?  Like unaffected?  Your always gonna feel, something, your relationship to it is what matters. Stable in your belief of yourself?  This may or may not be serving you.

Meditation is something that can have a grounding effect on some.  choosing to meditate and be with what ever arises not holding on to it or fighting it or talking with it.  Then when your in the world you can be more freely as though it was a metaphor for your meditation practice, not clinging, fighting or arguing with it.  simply be there, understand, state your case and move forward.

@Mu_ in this world " on the heros journey " you come across many characters. How about the idea of oneness? I don't want to seen myself as different, because then isn't that opposite of love?

@ShakazuluDUDE YESSSS!!!

you can create your own purpose....

Accept everyone else for who they are and what they believe....Most importantly use them to reflect on your own beliefs

All is relative...embrace that oneness

By realizing there is no objective world which “we are all in”. Each is the One, the dreamer and the dream. Shared “space” is illusionary. You’re alone in your own world right now.  Some folks are having a tough time with this and running off into assumption fantasy.

@Shakazulu How do you know another “world view” actually exists? Careful with bridging via tiny assumptions. They become great misunderstandings.  And then of course, does “your world view” exist? Do you? As what? Lol.

Magic.

@Shakazulu Find the correct world view. If you have the correct view with the correct beliefs, you will have nothing to worry about that much. There is an objective world. There is a shared space which we call "the universe." Nahm is wrong on this one. Sorry, Nahm. Fantasy is when you stray from the world's current level of evolution. For example, magic. Human beings objectively can't use magic yet, therefore it is fantasy.

Straying from the world's current level of evolution is literally part of the definition of fantasy!

Find the correct world view and believe in it. That's how you stay grounded.

Just as Nahm said, your worldview is valid too. :)

Maybe it's always valid, but it's not always correct. There is a difference.

Does perspective make a worldview correct? Does acknowledging the truth in all worldviews bring about freedom from the need for purpose?

Can you prove there is an objective reality? No, but doesn't mean you can't believe there is...

See that all world views are conditioned. Understanding holistically the nature of thought puts order in thought. Purpose is relative and dependent on culture/tradition which is conditioned by thought itself. Action influenced by this conditioning means we are still fragmented and projecting that as views being true as opposed to another. All based on thought which is inherently relative/bias.

Can you accept or let in the paradoxical possibility that yourself being different and apart of it all, are the same?  That love and its opposite are the same.  Its all the same source man.  When you can let that in totally, then you are it, it is it, they are it, its all it.  But don't let that drag you into nihilism, just let worry about what I said go, and see what happens.

That is a delicious recipe for suffering. . . A meal so scrumptious one will return to eat it over and over - seeking to satiate their hunger. Eventually, one will realize it does not, and cannot, fulfill them and make them whole.

To a rationalist, both pre-rational and post-rational appear as irrational. Dig deeper into the post-rational zone - into what appears to be irrational magic.

@Serotoninluv Why do you insist on bringing this up again? We spent almost a whole day talking about it last time and I already explained everything to you.

I'm done having this debate. It's boring!!! Seriously...

The fact of the matter is that you don't see human beings on planet Earth right now using fantastical magic or casting spells or anything like that. I'm not saying it's not possible (since anything is possible), but it hasn't been proven to exist on planet Earth, therefore it is currently classified as fantasy.

To be grounded in life you need to know what is fantasy and what isn't, otherwise you will likely end up in a mental hospital!
