13 posts in this topic

why do you think it's relevant

Show me how to have faith in relevance of any carl jung model ( I can see the bias in science, why would carl jung and all his teaching have any relevance better than another biased science ? )

Why you find faith in those model ?

It's kinda weird the myers-briggs model has pretty much already been debunked but for some reason it really does track my personality quite well. I used to test as an INTP but after a lot of doing heart centered stuff I now test as INFP. That is a change I already noticed in me and at each time I can primarily identify with mostly one of the types which so yea.

It's not about having faith. It just describes many people's personalities accurately. At least it does for my personality.

Just don't confuse personality with your existential nature. Those are very distinct things.

I think it can be useful if you're looking for a suitable career for you. However, over the past 5 years or so I've have taken the test several times and obtained a radically different result each time. So, it doesn't take into account the possibility of changing and actively constructing a personality, which can be quite limiting.

I did 3 times on multiple years ( 6 years , mid, and recently ), only once I had ENTP aswell in another try. I read almost all types, and I m quite the two E-I /NTP

it depend days, I can be as hard an extravert as hard an introvert, I can be closed for days ( but I m clearly more "intp" ), or going out multiple days if that's with friends.

this is why I doubted the test was accurate. But that's probably me

you can't test me boy

I think Typology systems can be quite useful.

I would recommend going deeper into it. Read about Socionics, which is another spin off from Jung's work on personality archetypes.

The reason you change types, is because you are not familiar with it enough. You need to explore all the types, find examples of each and compare. Type is something you are born with, it is unchanged.

MBTI or Socionics won't tell your level of Intelligence, conciousness, Will power and so forth. But its still useful in describing your general tendensies.

I think the BIGGEST use of the model, is in describing relationships between types. This can save you from bad divorces down the road. Its is very accurate in describing who you will tolerate and who you won't.

@Shadowraix That is fundamentally true - "no man steps in the same river twice".

However, some things are given at birth - eye color, height predisposition, skin color, brain structure and DNA.

Since brains evolve in a certain way based on DNA, no reason to think there won't be common patterns throughout ones life.

You would really have to go out of your way to actually "rewire" your brain, most people won't.

In my opinion, it describes very well the way (the natural preference) of thinking of an individual. It worked for me and for a lot of people I know. It doesn't mean I have a faith in it... it just work a lot so I think it will still work a lot for any other individuals.

@Leo Gura I said in a comment that "Stage Yellow = INTP" and you replied "No". Don't you think there is, at least, a strong link between these?

eben pagan is a big fan of them

he says that reason why many people's relationships don't work is because they have mismatched personality traits and they have to be the same ones or at the most have one letter different

@Strikr  There is a MBTI 2 in the works, with 5 letters and 5 options per letter which sounds amazing.

Nonetheless personnality is something very complex and the current MBTI is like a projection from 25D to 4D. It has some truth in it but in reality it's way way way more complex.

If it works for you feel free to use it just be open to the whole human complexity in front of you :)
