This song deals with our reaction to the homeless population. Jethro Tull vocalist and flute player Ian Anderson wrote the song and called it "a guilt-ridden song of confusion about how you deal with beggars, the homeless." Elaborating in the 40th anniversary reissue of the album, he said, "It's about our reaction, of guilt, distaste, awkwardness and confusion, all these things that we feel when we're confronted with the reality of the homeless. You see someone who's clearly in desperate need of some help, whether it's a few coins or the contents of your wallet, and you blank them out. The more you live in that business-driven, commercially-driven lifestyle, you can just cease to see them.

Disillusionment with science and stage orange

Edited by lmfao

Hark ye yet again — the little lower layer. All visible objects, man, are but as pasteboard masks. But in each event — in the living act, the undoubted deed — there, some unknown but still reasoning thing puts forth the mouldings of its features from behind the unreasoning mask. If man will strike, strike through the mask! How can the prisoner reach outside except by thrusting through the wall? To me, the white whale is that wall, shoved near to me. Sometimes I think there's naught beyond. But 'tis enough.

So green it hurts. This was Russell Brand 7 years ago I think he's moved into Yellow now and doesn't display all these unhealthy green aspects - looking down on blue, disrespecting any rules or laws, wanting absolute freedom to be able to stand or go wherever he wants.

Last week, Kurt Willy Oddekalv, one of Norway's leading environmentalists, fell through the ice while trying to rescue his daughter's dog and died 63 years old. Back in the 90s, he was a regional leader of our largest environmental organization, The Norwegian Society for the Conservation of Nature (Naturvernforbundet), but he left due to conflict with the leadership and established his own organization, Green Warriors of Norway (Norges Miljøvernforbund).

My dad has worked with him for almost 20 years and was interviewed in the local newspapers to talk about his life. I used to work in the restaurant below the headquarters of Green Warriors. I also worked with him alone one summer helping to renovate one of his rental houses (he suffered two strokes in 2016 which caused him to have reduced mobility and only being able to work 60%). He was known for having a strong personality, clear vision, fierce determination, controversial methods, and a deep love for nature.
