Drug Abuse Is Spiritual

13 posts in this topic

Every drug abuse is spiritual, and stemps from the need to escape this physical reality which only limits you, every drug from subtle to hard, all of them serve the purpose to escape this physical reality and experience something else

I was thinking something similar, how people who do drugs are searching, maybe they don't even know they're searching much less know what they're searching for (personal experience)

but I know what I'm searching for now (relief, truth, cool realizations...)

also I find it very interesting that many states of "whatever you call it, mystical states" or whatever are very similar to taking drugs

I actually feel like I've taken codeine sometimes if I can just get right in there, anyone else notice that?

we don't want to escape, escape is fear based, we want to face it.

psychedelic and weed are not escape for instance ( not to me ).. my mind is always escaping without substance, I use substance to enjoy reality and face it. Maybe I m the only one ? I don't do alcohol for instance since years, I don't see the point at all.

Everyone who is in a belief system is as deluded as a guy on drug, it's only a notion, drug doesn't even exist, that's a human assumption about the nature of external things in reality.

Yes there is substance who seams to trick what we call consciousness, but is it wrong ? moral would tell us, yes, but everyone know that moral is bullshit human delusion.

eating the same shit everyday has a substance impact on the mind, even if you can't notice it

Leo describes in his "10 things you want you don't know you want" video that one of those things is you want the world to feel magical again like when you were a kid. We often become dulled to the magic of our usual perceived reality and drugs become a great exciting new experience. Those who do psychedelics way too much lose the 'magic' and it no longer is fun. Too much exposure to great things dulls it for us. Like buying that new video game and no longer playing it within 6 months.

Of course that is one reason for drug use and ultimately was the reason why I even touched lsd in the first place. I wanted to see visuals. Unhealthy relationships with drugs often stems from frayed relationships with themselves, those around them, and the world around them. I had a bit of problematic DXM abuse for a bit because I was bored all the time and so I had a frayed relationship with the world being dis-satisfactory. Yet I've never had a problem with psychedelics since I've never used it to compensate for something per se but as a learning tool.

There are 2 meanings to escape here and I think you and strikr are using different meanings. Strikr is using it in the way that escape is the intent to leave the current perceived reality to avoid dealing with some issue or emotion. That is a common reason to want to escape, but attaching that solely to escape is an assumption.

Escape is simply a desire to leave current perceived reality into another one and that can be anything from to avoid dealing with issues to have a different mindset for self inquiry.

You are mentioning abuse which leaves the door open for exploration and learning. And where the line goes between using and abusing, can only be answered by the individual.

It’s difficult to discuss in general terms, indeed.

@Cortex i don't think that drug use corresponds to escaping reality. Drug use is more like switching between different modes of reality. Some people are better at certain game modes than other are. Also, some drug use is down right disgusting no matter what angle you take at it and some drug use is the opposite of spiritual as it brings the lower self out to the fullest.  It is hard to believe the state of some minds and the extent in which they "threw in the towel" on life. This goes for entire families as well as individuals. I understand where you are coming from but where is there to escape to?

Spirituality is the realization that nothing limited you in the first place because there never was a you to begin with. Thus comes an acceptance and freedom to play in this reality, more joy.

Drug abuse is the escape from the you that you think is limiting you. You think you can escape but you only dig yourself deeper into your own delusions, more sorrow.

So, no, theyre miles apart.

But yes, ultimately its just a big play and we’re all different actors.

@Cortex what if they cause serious impact on our nervous system!!!! I have heard that they can disturb the normal chemistry of our brain and might be not a good idea to use them!

@Cortex By this logic, the cravings for video games, series, fiction, role-playing, porn, etc. are spiritual too.

Quote

"I jerk off to porn, therefore I am spiritual"

                                                - René Descartes, 2018

Escape and abuse are movements away from Truth, not towards it. Where Resistance is faced, Truth is revealed.

Yass, that's the other side of the coin. The words of a wise man. ?

Spirituality is any movement towards the Unnamable. Everything is spiritual.

The only true way out Resistance is going into it because any way out of it is staying in it.

The purest life possible is surrendering to the Absolute.
