Jordan Peterson

Peterson's an imperfect vessel for Yellow.

Yes, he may have a Green shadow (like many in Yellow,) but many people in Green have a Blue shadow.

Everyone who excessively focuses on Blue as some extraordinary source of evil is shadowboxing.

Don't make video on Jordan Peterson.

+1

It would be better to set up an interview with him instead. And have a conversation with him in person and record it. Like a podcast with him as a guest.

@Brittany Actually that would be worse because he would just deny all the important points being made.

He is not interested in reforming himself. He's out to promote his ideology. So a discussion is useless.

Say what you want about Jordan Peterson, he’s done a fine job of executing his Life Purpose Work, you gotta admit.  Now whether that brings him an end to his suffering or not is a different issue.  Enlightenment Work and Life Purpose Work can be at odds and it’s tricky to find the right balance to resolve them.  But Peterson has created his own dream career.  From a Life Purpose standpoint he gets an ‘A’, no?  Think about it.  Give him that one.  He had the balls to successfully do what he wanted to do with his work, and he’s achieved massive success at least on paper.  I don’t think he’s happy though, quite the contrary.  Neurotically trying to change the world is not an avenue to happiness, which is something I now understand that I didn’t quite understand before.  Don’t hate the player, hate the game — and actually you don’t wanna hate the game either.  Think about all the time you’re wasting and all the suffering you’re causing yourself criticizing Jordan Peterson.  At the end of the day, I wish Jordan Peterson well, I think he means well.  But I wouldn’t want his life or his job.  But he probably wouldn’t want mine either.

@Joseph Maynor By your logic, Hitler, Alex Jones, and Bin Laden deserve an A+

There are tons of lunatics in society with a firm sense of life purpose. Doesn't make it a conscious or good thing. There can be healthy life purpose and pathological life purpose.

JP can believe whatever he wants, but the problem is that his ideology is radicalizing people and misinforming them about post-modernism and stage Green. This is actually a big problem, as you can see just by reading the YT comments that JP fans make. Their understanding of these issues is extremely polarized, unsophisticated, egocentric, and naive.

Part of the problem is that these are young directionless males, age 18-26 who are still very immature, naive, and lacking in compassion.

You realize, right, that in the Middle East, terrorist groups recruit members using the exact same techniques JP is using? They target exactly the same age-range of males, and they radicalize them using cultural and identity issues, by demonizing stage Orange American decadence and liberalism. "How dare those liberal Americans let women drive, get a divorce, and walk around with their tits hanging out! What chaos! They are destroying the hierarchy of Allah! Letting gays have sex without killing them is ridiculous!"

If JP was born in the Middle East, he would be railing against stage Orange Western secular capitalism and trying to build a theocracy.

This has nothing to do with JP per se. It's just a Spiral mind virus. Minds work in predictable ways (to those who make a careful study of the workings of the mind).

That's just beautiful leo. What can I say, I am middle eastern and part of me grow up in blue stage my whole life and still after jumping but the spiral to an orange and now accepting green, I am still drawn to JP. The funny thing, there are many people like JP in middle east who argue with numbers and facts and are PHD in psychology and most of them belong to the Muslim brotherhood(the least barbaric of the militants who believe that the jihad is in the ballot box and parliament seats and cabinets), The brotherhood is special due to most of its ranks being academic people. Now, i just dislike JP and his kind although blue still rings hard, because I believe absolute infinity now wants everything to decay and this must HAPPEN!! Things go forward!

I believe JP wants to build a society of Judeo-christian brotherhood similar to the Muslim brotherhood out of the miserable incels and failed PUAs who are frustrated with feminism and muslim immigration

That’s a stretch Leo.  Forget about logic for a moment.  Jordan Peterson is no Hitler.  That’s a bizarre comparison you’re making, not me.  I think Jordan Peterson means well and I don’t think he’s a bad person at all.  Hey — there’s two knobs on the radio right, on and off.  Nobody is forcing anybody to listen to Jordan Peterson.  Jordan Peterson is not waging war and killing people — maybe metaphorically you could argue that, but not literally.  But, yeah, to compare those two is a bit off and I never intended to make such a comparison logic or no logic.  Jordan Peterson is a personal development teacher like you are right?  Is that such an evil thing?  If that’s evil, I think we need to coin a new word for the real thing.

The basic difference is generational.

Millenials came to awareness after the Soviet Union dissolved, so have less first-hand experience with the evils of the left.

(In addition, they were mostly taught by leftist teachers who stressed Hitler over Stalin.)

When you were born matters a lot as to your perspective on these things.

It's not difficult for even a relatively normal millennial to have a very skewed perspective, where JBP is mentioned in the same ballpark as Hitler.

I just watched a great movie about the capture of Adolf Eichmann in the theater that I recommend.  It’s called Operation Finale, released in 2018.  It should still be in the theaters now.  I saw it like a week ago.  Definitely worth watching if you have the time.  I thought it was worth it, and it made me do some research on Eichmann and do some reflecting.

I didn't say JP is Hitler. I used those extreme examples to illustrate that merely having a life purpose is not automatically a good thing. The details matter.

Passion and intelligence are a double-edged sword. You can be smart, passionate, and wrong or pathological.

When intelligent or passionate people are wrong, they tend to get really stuck in it.

JP has some good teachings, just be mindful that they are a Trojan horse for stage Blue/Orange conservative political ideology. Which is what made him so popular. Without the Trojan horse you would not know who he is.

Some people believe capitalism, anarchism, socialism, post-modernism, feminism, communism, or any other ideology will solve a lot of problems.

People expect too much from politics, ideology, and ideologues.

I think unrealistic expectations make people dysfunctional and dogmatic.

Open-mindedness seems more important than any ideology. Once I stopped being dogmatic about many things, I started becoming more functional and far more pragmatic.

It's good to spend a good chunk of your day away from theory because it just gets pounded in otherwise.  I'm exactly the kind of person who could benefit from this myself, and I realize that I gotta do it.  I gotta let go of my beliefs and be ok without not having to constantly have Thought in my life.  It's ok to dip into Thought mindfully, but this gluttony that we have with Thought just causes so much suffering because we start to see the world in the image of our Thought.  Thought becomes a lens on reality; a false lens.

Shit. Jordan Peterson's worries about radical left were kind of justifiable. It happens that in my country, some judges put a man in jail for months when a woman claims that the man touched her ass without any convincing evidence. There was a trial, but it was no proper trial because the man was assumed guilty without a convincing evidence.

It happened recently. The CCTV footage shows a man passes by a woman, but does not show his hand.

At best, I can guess that the man didn't see her, and his hand slightly bumped into her ass accidentally, or the woman is a con artist and pushed her ass toward his hand on purpose.

The woman demanded the man give her about $10,000 USD for touching ass. The man resisted. The judge eventually put him in jail for months. In this country, punching a woman is a lesser crime than touching a woman's body. The legal system is broken.

His wife is now very very very angry.

This kind of loose legal standard for women is what women who claimed to be radical feminists demanded for years in my country.

Now, it seems that their demand has already been accepted years ago.

Practically, if a woman accuses me of touching her body even though I didn't, I should run away. I'm not going to be involved in this kind of hot mess.

This weird trend can continue for some decades.

Whatever feminism or post-modernism is, allowing this kind of loose legal standard for certain special interest groups is deplorable.

It is quite possible that in the future, a worse version of trump will become the president of my country. I should not expect much from politics.

this is outside of your control

everything is predetermined

so stop watching the news and see how much better your life becomes

or if it doesn't, after awhile, start watching it again.

also try that with social media

At least, I know what to avoid and how to avoid it. It is like vaccine. It helps me build up an immune system.

By the way, if everything was pre-determined, would I remain as a lazy asshole until death if that was my fate?

maybe it's the news you need to avoid and not the news the news gives itself.

News helped me recognize con artists before. I could lose tens of thousands of dollars if I didn't recognize con artists. Recognizing threats and con artists is practical.

The religious ideologues have always demonized anybody and anything that wasn't their very specific belief system and JBP carries on in this tradition of it. He expertly distracts from the thousands of years  of bigoted othering where the 'social enforcement' was brutally exacted from their hypocritical self appointed moral pedestal and he now hysterically portrays the historic abusers as victims.

@SOUL That's what a human ego does by default. 99% of people do similar things. We are not very different from Jordan Peterson. Similarly, we are not very different from nazis.

As leo said, human ego doesn't really want equality. It wants to obtain and maintain massive unfair advantages. Saints are very rare. Most people are no saint.

People at the bottom and the top are all jockeying for power by default.

When you climb social hierarchy, exploitation happens automatically. You don't have to exploit other people. It happens automatically. That's a property of pyramid. Automatic exploitation gives people at the top plausible deniability. When people at the bottom blame people at the top, those at the top will say they are victims of blame. The daughter of bill gates will inherit a lot of money, but she did nothing wrong! The pyramid is not going away anytime soon however you feel about it.
