How do you Take a Break?

14 posts in this topic

Hi there,

I've been working on my life purpose thoroughly for 6 months and feel as though it's time for a small 1-2 week break.

I'm a performer and have 'daily' voice and acting exercises which have become good habits.

I also self-actualize by meditating, concentrating, affirmations, journaling, visualising and researching 'Daily.'

When you take a break, do you just drop everything and relax? (all daily practices)

You've got so much good going.

Dropping everything might mean that it will be hard to pick it up again. Momentum is that way. I'd think maybe you want to keep at least some routine (maybe your meditation and voice exercise) even on vacation.

What is it that you're tired of?

@Elisabeth Well, I guess it's the sum of everything.

I like it all, but doing it every day can become overwhelming.

I also try and write 1 song a day. - I like the idea of keeping some routines, like meditation and vocal exercises.

I think you should take a break.

There is a Brazillian song called "Clareia" (by Marie Gabriella) that came to mind. Here is the translation:

Quote

Trying to go beyond the routine and discipline that makes me grow,

I search for a place, an emptiness, a breath so I can simply be
That which I am and that I do not know, but I want to know.
All this emotion, all this heart, this new way of living.
Need space, an interval, to calmly bloom.

And here I am with the demands of life, healing the wounds with all my love.
I say goodbye to the old and open myself to the new by asking to the creator father:

Brighten everything that I am
Ignite my heart with love
Show me a new way to be
Open space for a new rebirth

In other words, sometimes we need to take a break for things to bloom.

Hope that helps!

@Gabriel Antonio Interesting, I like that quote!

I'm very aware that I should take a break.

Any ideas on the practical implementations?

@SelfHelpGuy Rent a minimal cabin in the woods for a week by yourself, without any electronics, or doing any practices. It’ll deepen the you and therefore all the things that you do will deepen.

look into energy mangement.

when I relax I just take a boring break where I do absolutely nothing but relax the mind and body and focus on taking deep breath. I think it helps to structure breaks so you have specific times for breaks.

Nice that you add so much value brhu.

I just sit in my room and contemplate or listen to good music. I turn off my phone.

Or I go out skateboarding and be in nature.

Or go camping with a tent and stuff it's more primal and cheaper :P

@Ether That’s the thing... Self help can become an addiction.

What has helped me not get bored out of my mind is connect with people who are on the same path.

You can find amazing people at, for example, a yoga studio.
