Hey there, has anibody got kicked into homeostasis so hard that they feel they lost years of self development progress?

I feel like im back in my old ways, maby just a bit better than the past.

It sucks really bad to get back in the shitty state i was in.

The past is an opportunity to learn form our mistakes, so don't dismiss or shun them. Observe them and be them! Accept that the past happened and the past is only the past. The present is the most important! :P

You've haven't lost progress! You need to stay positive and see all the great things you have done, which you can see since you're better than the past.

Yeah it feels shitty to go back into the state, but you know what's worst? Staying in the state! Please remember that the past doesn't define you, and only the present does! Think positively and keep on trying. Suffering is the most valuable lesson and it will leave you a scar, a scar that will change you forever.

Homeostasis will not last forever, only time will change it!

Goodluck! Please don't lose hope! Stay positive! :)

@AlexB There are things to let go of, and false understandings to be truly understood. Do you have awareness of what frustrates you, what you experience which causes you to think lowly of yourself?

@AlexB literally going through exactly the same thing, no joke. It's in my top 10 list of mindfucks put it that way.

@Charlotte Yeah. An example might be, I am aware I get frustrated when someone cuts me off in traffic (keepin it simple here).

The falsity is that someone cut you off. They cut some nameless, faceless person in some car off, because they suffer from overinflated self importance. They believe they’re more important than the person they cut off. So, they’re in a hurry, cause their ‘shit to get done’ is more important than others.  They’re in a hurry because they have not learned to be present in the now. They have not learned this because their ego is running rampant. They are afraid to self inquire through the false perspective of reality and of self they adopted when something happened in their past.

The truth is, no one cut me off. That was just some guy who is looking for love. He believes being important and hurrying will make him feel better. Bliss is inside him, and he doesn’t have a clue.

Now, how will you feel the next time this event takes place?

How would I feel if someone cuts me off?

Are you referring to how aware I am of my reactions and understanding of other? If so yes, my awareness kicks in when I feel any type of 'trigger'.

I hope I've grasped your point ?

@Charlotte

First you perceive being cut off. Then you interpret it. Then you sense the trigger, or are triggered. Then you are aware of the triggering, and react, or don’t react.

I’m saying the interpretation was false and the rest need not take place.

What is referred to as homeostasis here reveals a present perception which is being tainted by a misunderstanding of something that was experienced /  observed in the past. Until that misinterpretation of the past event receives the light of awareness, it perpetually adds falsity to present perceptions which seem unrelated. The Truth shall set you free.

@AlexB  (I hope you don’t mind me using your post in this way to explain this)

It is impossible to lose self development. Because you did some self development, you now know better - as in, you know more so what you want and what you don’t want. If you don’t align and make choices from what you now know - “It sucks really bad”. You know what you need to stop doing, and you know what you need to keep doing, and you know what you need to start doing. You can. You totally can.

Identify what you need to do, and WRITE IT DOWN.  A thought in your head has got nothin on something physical your eyes can see. It’s a total game changer. Not to mention, it gets it ‘out of your head’. Keep it in front of you. Hang it on the wall. If you need to stop doing a habit, meditate for 10 minutes, 10 times a day to slow yourself down and make more conscious choices. If you need to forgive someone, sit quietly alone, and do it. The forgiveness is for you, not them.

@Nahm So the homeostasis perseption myself and @AlexBis experiencing is a misunderstanding of something we've experienced/observed in the past. I've been sat here contemplating this for almost an hour trying to figure out what the misunderstanding could possibly be.

With regards to the being cut off example you gave, I totally understand that now. As a matter of fact I've grasped what you said so deeply I feel it's altered and shifted something within. A deeper/broader understanding seems to have taken place. Thank you ♥️

With regards to myself resonating to what Alex explained in his OP for myself my monkey mind has kicked in tenfolds and being present and aware has backslided a little and become extra tough.

Thank you for your patience with me Nahm as always.

@AlexB It's never as bad as it seems. Even if you slide all the way back, you're really not the same any more. You will move ahead much faster now.

Your state will fluctuate a lot. Don't use state as a measure of growth. It's the wisdom and lessons learned that really matter, even if your state is sucky right now.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

Stay awake 1 week, use good food and coffee/raw cacao/haritaki if you can't handle the awakeness.

After 2-3 days you will feel in heaven.  But first learn to fly with your breath, swimming into the ground :). (tip: green/red, etc.)

Where I've been going wrong then.

Don't we measure true growth from our emotional reactions?

More like, your emotional reactivity.

Mood is a terrible measure of growth. Mood changes wildly. You gotta ground yourself in something more long-term and stable. Like Nothingness.

The truest measure of growth is how deeply you're grounded in Nothingness/Truth/You. Because Nothingness is the only thing which cannot be destroyed. Everything else is fleeting, including success, joy, health, wealth, relationships, career, friends, reputation, thought, or anything else. Even experience itself will end. But Nothingness will remain forever.

mood is a terrible measure, I noticed. my mood fluctuates a lot. and while I became more aware of good mood, the same could be said about bad mood. I'm much more conscious of those mood swings nowadays. it's a bit frustrating, because I'm now much more aware of my little moments of annoyance, frustration, boredom, nervousness, irresolution or disappointment. (one year ago I would have buried myself in distraction without even noticing)

but how do I measure how deeply I'm grounded in Nothingness? I can see how that's the highest indicator. but how exactly can I 'measure' that?

@Leo Gura I'm really not good with words but I'll try and explain... I'll use myself as an example, in the past I've let emotions run my life, I've reacted based on how my emotions feel or the thoughts that arise but to present, if something or someone say tries to offend me or I'm in a stressful situation I remain present af and conscious of how my emotions FEEL and the thoughts that arise. It's like there's a distance, like I'm watching myself.

Yes.

Maybe this backlash is showing you that all you "self development progress" was actually fake growth. That's what happened to me.

I myself used to be so neurotic about being perfect in every area of my life that I eventually collapsed, just like you. And I will probably will a thousand more times.

Things that helped me:

> Connecting more with other people. As the Buddha taught, our community (sangha) is one of the Three Jewels. This is no accident. I used to think I could figure out everything solo, but that was too painful. A yoga community, ayahuasca ceremonies...

> Energetic healing through Reiki. The basic idea of Reiki is very simple. Remove energetic blockages. Boom! It is actually something very gradual, but it works.

> Find a more authentic life purpose. And groud yourself in it.
