Physics: negative vs positive charges = evil and good?

8 posts in this topic

In atom there are negatively charged electrons and positively charged protons, also neutrons with no charge.

I wonder does it somehow relate to negative and positive feelings, emotions? Can we say that love is positively charged feeling and hate is negatively?

How does it relate to good and evil?

Why positive and negative electrical charges exist from physics standpoint? Why atoms cannot be only positive? Why electrons are essential?

No

The human mind sees the world through dualities: small/big, short/long, skinny/fat, dead/alive, ugly/beautiful, finite/infinite, animal/man, man/machine, etc.

That doesn't mean every duality is good/evil.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

@Leo Gura @Nahm

why electric charges called as positive and negative, plus and minus?

I don’t really know physics. Can you clarify why it is the case?

@Monkey-man Named for direction / flow. The pos / neg terminology is arbitrary, and electrons aren’t even things, other than determined by the movement previous (leptons, quarks, etc) Technically, an electron is a lepton, and even more technically, there’s only one electron, and it doesn’t exist at all, and it’s you. Seriously. Comparing love to a ‘physical’ component is like comparing the ocean to a drop of water in the middle of it. Pos & neg charges don’t exist, they are the fundamental fields of duality which constitute the illusion. There are countless fields, and they are illusionary.

For a historical reason.

Apparently, the first person to study the attractive properties of electricity was William Gilbert in the 16th century, way before the notion of the electron. He didn't quite coin the term of (positive and negative) charge, but close enough ;)

Quote

The English word "electricity" was first used in 1646 by Sir Thomas Browne, derived from Gilbert's 1600 New Latin electricus, meaning "like amber". The term had been in use since the 13th century, but Gilbert was the first to use it to mean "like amber in its attractive properties". He recognized that friction with these objects removed a so-called "effluvium", which would cause the attraction effect in returning to the object, though he did not realize that this substance (electric charge) was universal to all materials.[7]

In a magnet, you also have two poles but they are usually titled "South" and "North" rather than "+" and "-". Why do you believe that is? ;)

@Monkey-man Why is heads called heads and not tails?

Why is your butt not your head and your head not your butt?
