Pain management

Tomorrow I go in for a small Operation and I know I'm going to be dealing with quite severe pain when I awaken.

Any advice on how to detach as much as possible?

As always, Thank you.

@Outer I will do just that then... I'll apply this method to my daily chronic pain also.

Thank you Outer.

There are definitely times when pain medications come in handy. And that is for severe post-surgery pains. Just don't go crazy on them as they tend to block natural dopamine production and are very addictive.

Other than that there have been couple studies on ginger being very effective at reducing migraine and menstrual pain so maybe this could help a little. In a powdered or capsule form.

Otherwise a high antioxidant diet to reduce the post surgical inflammation ( unless the surgery restricts eating of course) full of fruits, berries and dark/vivid colour vegetables

@Michael569 Thanks for the information :)♥️

I will definitely do some more research into ginger for the monthly pains.

What I have noticed personally for me is, is since starting PD/Consciousness work I have lowered my Morphine intake from 40mg everyday (taken for 4 years) down to 10mg a day, I believe this is one of my truest achievement's so far with regards to this 'work'. I'm going to apply the technique that Outer suggested also, hopefully then I'll then be able to completely come off them all together. Just dreading the withdrawals ?.

@Charlotte here are some links for you. Both are only abstracts, you'd have to pay to get the original document.

blood loss volume https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25298352

menstrual pain https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23865123    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19216660

and btw well done on reducing your morphine intake, that is a tremendous achievement even though it may not seem so to everyone. Don't stop until you are back to 0.

Having said that, if there is an underlying reason why you took it , perhaps try to find out the reason for those pains in the first place.

@Michael569 Thanks for link's, I'll take a look at them.

Yeah I know the reason why (well from what specialists have told me) I haven't actually looked into my body to have a look:ph34r:. So I'll say 'apparently' I have hereditary Degenerative disc disease (which isn't actually a disease). Yoga seems to be the only holistic approach that actually seems to ease the pain for a day.

Thanks for your words of support ? I plan on continuing lowering the dose ?

@Charlotte damn, I am sorry to hear about your suffering. No tips I could offer but Dr Greger on his nutritionfacts.org has 3 videos on lower back pain, maybe you will find something of value in them https://nutritionfacts.org/topics/lower-back-pain/

I have disc buldges and a disk herniation. It sucks. Especially having an interest in physical movement.

I never got an operation. I do various things to keep it under control.

@Charlotte

goodluck friend?

@Michael569 Arw bless you Michael it's okay, I'm used to it now, it's a part of my everyday life that I have (eventually:ph34r:) learned to live with instead of against. I'll definitely take a look into the link, thanks so much ^_^

@Faceless Arw sorry to hear that faceless! ? I feel your pain (literally). How did that happen?? (If you don't mind me asking). I also have a natural interest in physical movement and it's SOOOOO HARD not to cross 'my limit's' ? so I totally understand what your saying here.

If you don't mind sharing what do you do to try and keep it under control?

My dad had a ruptured disc, he did get an operation and he's doing awesome now. Have you never considered it?

Thanks for sharing ❤️

I sleep on the floor. I elevate my sacrum when lying on my back. I do a lot myofacial release techniques and stretches on my lower back, glutes, quads, hamstrings and other places that feel tight. I try and maintain the majority of parts of the body since everything is interconnected and one thing effects anohter. I don’t sit on chairs/couches often. I do a lot of stretches specific for my condition that I have figured out over time. And I am fairly conscious of how I move. That type of stuff. Basic lifestyle change.

@Faceless @Michael569ignore that sorry.

@Faceless Thanks for responding and for sharing.

Sounds like you've got an awesome routine there, good for you ^_^ Kinda the same to what I'm doing (apart from sleeping on the floor, too painful). I suppose you just learn as you live with it over the years.

Thanks again
