Supercharge Your Book Reading & Note Taking Skills

1 post in this topic

I've got the book list and am diving into a couple of them, but I'm starting to realize that it would be a good idea to learn how to optimize my time & effort.

I'd like to learn:

  • How to determine which books to read first! (this has been a little overwhelming for me)
  • How to approach a book - pre-reading, skimming, asking what I want out of it, etc.
  • How to take effective notes.
  • How to review those notes at a later date (spaced repetition?) so the information sticks.
  • How to make bigger-picture connections with what I already know in other areas.
  • How to make an action plan on what I read, rather than just reading it and moving on.
  • How to determine which parts of a book deserve the most attention and which parts can be skimmed.
  • How to avoid information overload and getting caught up in multiple books/videos/articles simultaneously.
