Optimal Personal Development Lifestyle?

5 posts in this topic

hi :)

what do you think is the optimal(or ultimate) personal development lifestyle?(if there is one)

for example, some of the things i have found my self could be

in a career: be so good they can'y ignore you

personal life: spend less time on distractions(or time waster) more on taking responsibility, taking action(design your life in a way so that it support taking action for example it helps spending less time on distractions and on too many things throughout the day), permanently fixing problems at the root cause, doing the emotional difficult thing, Truth, eating healthy, getting enough sleep, meditation, deep relaxation, exercise, digital minimalism

what do you think is the ultimate personal development lifestyle?

Experiencing the feelings you want to be feeling, making the money you want to be making, having the kinds of relationships you want to be having, feeling free, productive, like you are contributing to the world, healthy, respected, admired even by your peers.  Being able to own your own home, save for retirement, and travel when you want to, to explore all of the nooks and crannies of experience this life has, both inner and outer.  Sampling the best that recreation has to offer in life, including sampling nice food and spoiling yourself on occasion.  Having a career that actually is an expression of you that you can be proud of and look back on your life's work-product with a proud smile on your face.  To be able to deal honestly with other people so you can live guilt free and free from having any kind of bad reputation or ill repute.  Having passion for your life and being excited by your life.  Jumping out of bed in the morning because you're doing exactly what you want to be doing and you're on fire about it.  You're jacked up; not on drugs, but by your work.  Your work has become an extension of your strengths -- and you get paid very well or at least fairly for what you do.  That's the kind of life you want to live.  It's called a "charged life," as Leo says.  To design your life to be able to genuinely say that you did it "my way" -- you didn't just slug around and sleepwalk through this cornucopia of a life we were given.   That would be sad, right?  Think about it.  It's like traveling to Paris but staying in your hotel room the entire time.  No!  You explored every inch of reality, both the inner and the outer, and every space betwixt and between.  You were the explorer! -- reality getting to know itself fully.  That's a nice meta-vision.

@BjarkeT looks like you’re on the right path already with the concepts and actions you list. @Joseph Maynor adds a lot of food for thiught as well. I’ve learned that it will look different for everybody really. On my path, I have had to work hard, and still do, to develop habits that contribute to my purpose. Positive habits that run me to a degree. Staying consistent is HUGE. You listed many of the habits above. Keep it up.

Habits that I have used, personally? Is that what you’re asking? I hope i don’t get complete off track here. I’m at a place of serious growth and transformation right now. I changed careers in June and thought my life and reality would change bc my circumstances did and I learned quickly otherwise. I was super frustrated and looking for answers when I stumbled upon leo, among others. Ok... just trying to give some background. Habits that I personally stick to include: an exercise regimen 5 days a week (I’ve lost 17 lbs and feel great) I meditate every day. I read one hour a day or more. I changed my diet, (nothing major, just eating real food and zero fast food) I stopped looking at porn (oddly enough this was the hardest thing of all) then I have a set of habits I incorporated at my work to increase productivity. That mostly includes incorporating routines and time blocking my tasks. Lastly, perhaps more to your point, when I need to relax, or take that mental break, I watch videos like a fiend. Almost to a fault, really. But I’m not necessarily just doing mental masturbation and I’m careful to make sure I don’t get in a trap. Like I said, I’m in a phase of transformation and growth right now and I use YouTube and audiobooks to learn. I dive in and try to pull nuggets of wisdom that I can use to change my mind and my life. I’m a drummer, so I play drums to relax too. That was probably way too long and tmi. But. If you’re a self actualizer, you don’t want to fall in a trap of incorporating habits that do not harmonize with your life purpose. That’s all I’m saying.
