Kendrick- "I meditate and moderate all of my wins again"

In a 2016 GQ interview with Rick Rubin, Kendrick revealed that he uses meditation as a tool to ground himself and live in the moment:

Yeah, man. I have to have at least 30 minutes to myself. If it’s not on the daily, every other day, to just sit back, close my eyes, and absorb what’s going on. You know, the space that I’m in. When you in music—and everybody knows this—the years are always cut in half, because you always have something to do. We in the studio for four months, that go by. Now you gotta go on the road for five months, that go by. Next thing you know, five years going by and you 29 years old. You know? So I have to find a way to understand the space that I’m in and how I’m feeling at the moment. ‘Cause if I don’t, it’s gonna zoom. I know. I feel it. And I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. It just goes and then you miss out on your moment because you’re so in the moment you didn’t know the moment was going on, if that makes sense.

Kendrick previously referenced the practice of meditation on 2015’s “Black Friday” and 2016’s “untitled 03 | 05.28.2013.,” as well as earlier in DAMN. on “DNA.”

Im a big fan of meditation, as I do it, soo i heard even another rapper saying he did it. If we could make a list with evidence of rappers who meditate, I would be glad.

Not a rapper, but Russell Simmons (Def Jam founder) is really into yoga. His books are awesome personal development mojo.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

The Formula 1 Champion of last year Nico Rosberg picked up meditation under the guidance of some Japanese master I believe. It helped him become World Champion.

After that season he quit F1. I suspect his new look on life had something to do with that.

@Ether I'm a big Kendrick fan...

"Levitate levitate levitate levitate"

Untitled 07 has reference to "being vs doing"

He says stuff like "drugs/sex/money/church won't get you high like this (meditation/being)

Love Kendrick..conscious rap is no different from poetry

Most underground rappers know about ancient wisdom and meditation and so on which is why they remain underground. Too much truth to be told won't get the views and numbers. They don't want another Tupac waking masses up.

K RINO is ruthless and his lyrics gives me life xDxD:o^_^

"The wanna depopulate civilians

Nowadays they say it's easier to kill than to control millions

National debt sits in its trillions.

Plans to hide every revolutionary's relevance

Triggered by the FBI's counter intelligence "

"You don't see it but it's right there in front of you "

@Little Plant Hey, here is a couple songs i wrote i have yet to record:

Labeling everything good and bad, can make you stress

If you believe them soo much, you can be depressed

I remember when i used to be depressed

I couldnt get no rest

All I wanted is to live my life without stress

and anxiety, thought life was a mess

Soo i meditate, make my fears dissipate

Body levitates

Consciouness concentrates

And rises up the fucking the imaginary stairs

---

Another one:

No thought, meditation

Had to learn that mind education

Appreciate this creation

Sight seeing the view from my apartment

Nothing seems important

The night lights

Im not saying they give me life

Another times i would call them nice

But this days i jsut appreciate them with no label

Appreciation, im able

I appreciate the moments without thought

Sometimes i wish for no thought

But i realize there is good effects without getting it

Its out job with realize it

Yeah Tech is a Beast, Vinnie Paz is one of my Fav's as well, Him, Pac and few others really kickstarted my mind to think about whats really going on in the world. Help me see past the Matrix before i even seen the movie.

This is when he was very young saying all shit back then

and the powerful end of days

Many rappers meditate and talk about similar things these days even the mainstream rappers like 50 and RZA but they just keep it to themselves more compared to underground rappers who let it all out. Hopsin also spoke some wise words about similar things in his earlier songs but i think he's becoming too mainstream focused these days and starting to lose art of poetry and focus more on silly things that attract more money and fame.

@pluto love these !! hypes me up

yeah I am so damned when I see artists go full retard as they get richer and more popular.  But then again most of them are motivated by getting out of poverty or out of the drug game so I don't blame them tho

Poetry has nothing to do with it since it's written and it's a different code all together => Jacobson and co. to read.

Rick Rubin actually co-founded Def Jam with Russell Simmons.

Here is the above cited interview between him and Kendrick Lamar.

Nothing groundbreaking but still a cool perspective for any creative or hip-hop aficionado.

To me, it's beautiful and inspiring to realize how ultimately those who nurture a calling, sort of create a global family of their own.

Gives me big time FOMO, but not in a materialistic or status sense.
