Sages Never Needed Materialism!

Such a large proportion of the population focus on materialism. Why is it bad for them?

Why do they need it?

How do we reduce materialistic items in life?

How do we live a simple/ sage like life? To have greater levels of happiness.

How important is this on a global scale e.g. Western Society vs Eastern.
