Best Spiritual Practices For An Infj?

11 posts in this topic

hey,

I'm an INFJ and wondering which spirutual practices suit my personality best as I want to commit to some practices in near future.

I tend to resonate a lot with matt kahn and his teachings...can it be that INFJs are more on a "healing journey/emotional releasing" than on a journey of "self-inquiry/concentration/hard work/..."?

or is this wishful thinking and "hardcore spiritual practices" are a must?

are there some INFJs who have tried different techniques and traditions and have found THEIR thing?

what do you think @Martin123?

thank you :)

@el_duderino You can release emotional baggage till the cows come home, but in the end, if you want enlightenment, there's only one thing you gotta release, and that's your identity with that body/mind. Your physical identity must be directly questioned. WHAT ARE YOU?

You can take a heart-centered approach, but you should be questioning, WHAT AM I existentially? What is my TRUE nature if I'm not this body/mind?

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

Both approaches complement eachother perfectly. Especially when the ego backlashes and in times of extreme emotional turmoil the heart centered approach makes me more grounded and complements the mind based approach. I'd try to have a variety of instruments in my toolkit. You'll be less specialised, but there will be more tools for you to apply for the specific situation.

@Leo Gura thank you. :)

@Visionary wow, sounds good but also messy. is that really working or you? and how do you decide what you're working on this day? intuituion?

I tried a similar approach but now feel like I need to commit to some practices and dive deep into them in order to make good progress.

It really depends on the person really. For me a variety of 3/4 techniques works best.

@Visionary ok, thanks for answering :)

if I may ask, what are the techniques that work for you?

and are you an INFJ or similar personality type?

"hardcore spiritual practices"

You can check out Matt's "The Karmic return". If you resonate with Matt it will resolve your question.

I dont wanna challenge what the Majestic ape is saying here I just wanna give another perspective.
Before I knew anything about enlightenment or spirituality, I just looked up meditation and I sat down and had a spontaneous kundalini awakening, it took me on a journey I am still on where my daily life is basically a low-dose psychadelic trip with energy movements and difference in perception, and I am continusouly being emptied of a personal identity, and energetic release of ego is happening without any sort of enquiry, contemplation or meditation.

I am sure that for many self-enquiry and mindfulness practicess, and grounding in the grand I-am, is a must.
But from my personal experience, self-enquiry never did anything for me, one day I just realized that the "God-self" has always been there and I felt it from the moment I was born, I just didn't realize what it was. Then it was kinda like "Oh this is what everyone is talking about. OH yeah taht makes sense."

And every time I get more grounded in awareness, grounded in the ocean of existence it is as a result of a major energetic release, after overcoming of emotional attachments. Not because I was sitting on my bum being like "Yo what am I".

I agree with Leo that for enlightenment, you have to let go of how you define yourself. But that does not mean that using Mbti as a humble guide rather than an all knowing crystal ball still allows for some growth. It wouldn't be as a powerful piece of growth than enlightenment is, but part of the path of enlightenment is greater awareness of yourself which Mbti gives.

I'm getting some pretty advanced meditative experiences (Haha. Not enlightenment though.) and the longer time passes, the more I think I got there partly because in my study of Mbti and enneagram. Because of that, I had an obsession of studying my thoughts, feelings, intentions and behaviors constantly. That greater awareness in my daily life allowed greater awareness with meditation.

It's only a stepping stone to deep awareness and you'll have to go beyond that. And yes, from what I've seen, everyone has to go through hardcore self inquiry type of stuff. The deeper you go, the more you find that concentration/hardwork/self inquiry is what allows for the greatest emotional healing.

Check out the blog Personality Hacker that has lots of podcasts and articles on different types for personal growth. If you're up to it, you can buy their INFx Unveiled Program for mental health practices for these types. Though, I haven't tried it myself because I'm not an INFx.

The blog Personality Junkie has some personal growth articles. I've read some on INTx spiritual articles because I am one. Maybe there are ones for INFxs.

Hello, infp/infj here (p and j are on the cusp so I'm unsure) and I have found that personal inquiry is very helpful.

Thus far I have been meditating and then doing self inquiry after having a quiet mind.

Check out socionics as well if you haven't,  good stuff!  Have a good one
