Contradictory Assumptions About Nofap. Why ?

18 posts in this topic

So I know this phenomenon as NOFAP keeps coming up in lots of men-related issues or forums of some sort and I myself have been doing NOFAP for sometime now. However, there seems to be some contradictory ideas and assumptions about doing NOFAP. The website below for example denotes that what NOFAP actually is nothing but "Expectancy effect" and the nofappers see the results they wish to see. So If there is all "Scientific side" of porn and excessive masturbation, why would some people confuse it with morality? How can I be assured whether this NOFAP actually raises consciousness or not ?? plz help me overcome this confusion and check the link below prior to answering.

Peace

@ArasH

First off, you are creating your own reality whether you know it or not. So the fact that nofap has a self-fullfilling prophecy association is not surprising. Your whole life is a largely a self-fullfilling prophecy.

As to whether nofap actually works, I've found it really depends on the person and their intention. It helped me at one point just because I was hooked on porn and had to just cut the whole thing.

So don't worry about whether nofap is inherently useful for everyone or what science says because you're not going to get an answer everyone agrees on.

Think for yourself. Does this make sense for ArasH right now? You can always change your mind after experimenting.

It's not because it is healthier or not.

It's because if you can control your libido, you're basically free.
Except long hours of meditation/self-inquiry and hard drugs, there is nothing else that is harder to overcome.

And honestly, if you were doing it for some weeks, you'll know why it's a good habit to have (or non habit).
You gain so much energy, and it's totally logical, releasing your sperm every fucking day isn't just fucking natural.

Not only that, but what is its purpose ? You have like 10 seconds of pleasure and it's done.
10 seconds of pleasure for a whole day of low energy, only an addict would say it's worth it.

If you intend to waste sperm everyday at least me make sure you eat properly as, you are spending lots of minerals and vitamins "restocking".

Then what would be the natural number? @Shin

Once every 3 days, Once a week, Once a month?

I'd like to do this aswell, but it is particularly hard for me since I'm still in my teen years.

I've managed to cut out porn though

@Shin

Here some purposr i discovered form myself. (And i think some others can confirm)

When i fap, i dont only get 10 seconds of bliss, also the time afterwards i feel calmer and more clear headed.

This effect is stronger the longer the breaks inbetween.

On the other hand, if i would fap daily the "afterglow-effect" would almost completly be lost.

@Max_V I think keeping a break of 7-10 days should be sufficient, but going for longer periods can be much more challenging and therefor you will learn more.

@Principium Nexus I've tried to but once I get passed the 5th day mark, I have this building up of sexual energy that is just too overwhelming. It makes me sick, I have this huge pit in my stomach

@Max_V Those are withdrawl symptoms, if you manage to push yourself further, you will gain greater self-control. I know it is overwhelming, thats the energy you are cultivating. If you learn how to focus/control this then you will really empower yourself.

Cut away the neurotic tendencies, show yourself you are in control. It will be rewarding.

IF you're in your teen years and have a girlfriend, don't think too much about that.
Try to learn tantra though, like that you won't have to ejaculate.

If you're single, once every two week is enough.

@Shin @Max_V @Principium Nexus @ThinAir @Spiral An Update : Already in Week 2 and although I feel like I have much more confidence and all, not everything went the way I wanted to. I thought once I stop Fapping all my problems would go away. This was pretty much what nofappers claim though, kinda foolish of me. But I believe I need to replace the habit of Fapping which I used to have with a productive one. I also feel like my brain is playing tricks on me as I kinda feel melancholic and don't know why. I hate this feeling and Fapping used to trigger this when I was in the act. But why the hell do I have this sentiment now that I stopped this???

Maybe it's the chemicals in my brain as I am trying to Unwire something so frequent I used to do. I'd appreciate any tips u can give me.

@ArasH Ye there is a lot of dogma in the nofap circle.

It certainly helps to go into it, but it doesn't solve problems and psychological issues. It might accelerate certain development though, since you get so much energy that you once wasted.

Cool you got to two weeks, I've never gotten past the 7 days mark :D. I'm certainly giving it another try now, since everyone here gave me some good points, and help.

your source is bullshit, hundreds of men talks about the true benefits of NOFAP even science prooves that after 7 days of nofap tehres a testosterone peak.

Also the prolactin release after cum is a hormone that makes you feel sleepy, tired, unmotivated, depressed AND Social anxiety.

this is true.

@Shin Have been able to learn tantra, the problem is I had a wet dream. Should I count that as a relapse?

Also with tantra I've been able to make the 8 day mark, which I haven't before.

Concerning wet dream, the only solution I found, would be to learn how to have lucid dream and of course refuse to have sex while you're lucid.
