Wait, Why Would I Even Want To Exist???

8 posts in this topic

Think of all the pain, emotional suffering, and neorosis associated with maintaining an egoic self concept. Existing with an ego is hell! Quite literally. I am studying religions, and I now realize the "hell" they speak of is really the mental stream of thoughts that rape you of your consciousness. People are driven to suicide because they identify with their thoughts and take them seriously!

So when I read books on spirituality and watch videos  (such as the one's on Actualized.org) and am told that I don't exist in reality, I now think that THIS IS THE GREATEST NEWS EVER! All the unnecessary suffering is quite in vain, and it is this that motivates me to do spiritual work.

Just needed to let go of that, I hope maybe this helped someone.   -_-

Takes wisdom to see that though, doesn't it. Another thing is, even when you intellectually understand it, you'll start seeing it on new and new levels. And it'll really start making sense how every time you create a self you cause yourself suffering. The more you'll see it, the less you'll do it over time. So keep being mindful of that all throughout the day.

P.S. These new ranks on this forum haha. "Butt Monkey" :)

What is non-existing? Isn't that an oximoron? I'm aware that I'm aware and I exist. So, how does one not exist, when you experience existing?

Existence is an experience as natural as anything else. If you identify with thoughts of suffering, it increases your misery. Dissociate from such thoughts and you'll have peace.

  1. Only ONE path is true. Rest is noise
  2. God is beauty, rest is Ugly

@2000 additionaly you could add that its self inflicted and deep down you are enjoying the pain experiance.

I know to some that sounds absurd.

But who is in control of your mind? Want to blame someone else?

You pay attention to positive things = your happy

You pay attention to negative things = you suffer

You watch porn = you horny

You control what you pay attention to and what is important :D

Why Would I Even Want To Exist???

because:

  1. it creates the illusion of free Will and gives you a sense of control (in reality there is no free Will)
  2. it keeps you from purging all the shit from your mind which is not pleasent (which is inevitable when you become conscious)
  3. it is comfortable with maintaining status quo and that keeps you from expanding your consciousness, that which you are in reality
  4. it gives you the illusion of comparing yourself to others (that makes sense only for the ego)
  5. it creates the illusion of gossip being worthwile (gossip makes sense only to the ego)
  6. because it creates the illusion of linearity (reality is not linear)
  7. it creates the illusion of past and future (there is only the eternal now)
  8. it keeps the drama alive, you are hardwired negatively and when you exist you get comfortable with that drama and seek it, because you identify with it (non-identification is not comfortable, but when you expand your consciousness you can get comfortable with the uncomfortable)
  9. to experience separation (in reality you are never separate from source consciousness, that which you existentialy really are - everything)
  10. it creates the illusion of striving for achievement (there is nothing to be achieved at all at the existential level)
  11. it amplifies perceived threats trough identification(there are no threats because you don't exist.)
  12. it keeps you serious (instead of playful)
  13. it creates the illusion of good and bad (there is no such thing as good and bad)
  14. it gives you meaning for existence (meaning is an illusion except expansion and contraction in my opinion- that you can directly experience in reality but that is more of an existential meaning than an ego based meaning)
  15. it gives you a sense of purpose (there is really no purpose at all, you are already everything)
  16. it makes communication worthwile (communication is based on symbols which are interpreted as if they mean something but in reality they don't mean anything at all)
  17. it creates meaning (meaning creation is an illusion)
  18. you can be proud of everything "you" did (accept the fact you didn't do any of that)
  19. it creates the illusion of momentum being done by ego (in reality it is not you who has done all of that but consciousness)
  20. it gives thoughts meaning (but in reality they are meaningless)
  21. it keeps you stuck in a comfortable position (when you're expanding consciousness you are never stuck)
  22. it gives you the illusion of an outside reality (there is really no outside reality, everything is happening inside You - consciousness)
  23. it creates the illusion of you creating outside reality (when really it's consciousness that is creating you)
  24. it gives you the illusion of inspiration, talent, courageousness, intelligence... in short, it gives you a sense of you (the big You - consciousness can not be perceived with senses)
  25. it gives you the ability to defend a position (when your expanding consicousness you stop caring about defending positions)

Reality is an illusion, but that illusion exists, so all you can do is to deal with it and the only way to do that is to expand consciousness, when you are higly conscious you are more discerning and that enables you to discern illusion from consciousness and as a consequence all suffering ends.
