Lack Of Motivation

13 posts in this topic

As the title says,I am experiencing lack of motivation. And not that kind of lack where I'd rather stay all day in bed and no nothing..I don't have motivation to grow myself..to become a better person..to study..to meditate..etc.

Currently,I am just meditating daily and soon I'll hit the gym.I'm not doing these stuff for a definite purpose, but because it's better than doing nothing (side note:I started to meditate because I was depressed..but now I'm not,I'm all right).

I have the entire summer vacation ahead of me,and I don't know what I could do.I wanted to get my first job,but my parents won't let me -_- and there is no fucking way I can convince them.

Back to my problem..I'm expecting answers like.."find your passion" or "buy Leo's course"..I need money for those things..and guess what, I don't have..and I have some things that I would like to study further..but the lack of motivation comes in..I usually start the habit and then fall off track multiple times until I give up.Why? Because I have no real idea of what I want to achieve.Ideas like becoming a better person or getting a girlfriend or having lots of money or becoming a better student or master my emotions...I just don't seem to connect with them.I may feel "charged up" when I think about them..but for a short period of time(1 minute at Max..)

I just can't keep forcing myself to do things for no good and clear reason.I need some kind of purpose,goal..but again, something in me just resists or doesn't want to pursue anything..(I guess).

@Ryan_047  Just because you don't know your passion doesn't mean you don't have any. This is just part of the journey. Seek and be very patient.

@Ryan_047 Do absolutely nothing for as long as possible. Take boredom and doing nothing to a height no human has ever experienced before. Do nothing until you become nothing. Do this for as many days, weeks, months, years as possible.

How To Motivate Yourself - The Trick Behind Lasting Self-Motivation

How To Get Motivated - Creating Consistent Drive for High Performance

Contemplating Your Own Death - To Stay Motivated For Life

How To Get Shit Done

One Simple Rule For Acing Life

Systems Thinking (Very important for motivation to impact the world.)

I'd start by sitting down, get out a notepad, set a timer for an hour and just write down what I wanted, pick a habit, start building momentum and progressing.

- Figure out what you want, long list, tangible, detailed

- Create fundamental habits, do your habits like you pee, shit, eat and drink. it's just a necessity.

- Commit to doing your habits, no excuses, be very strict about it but be conscious of the exceptions to the rules

- Be conscious of your emotions and resistance to doing your habits with journaling, contemplating or meditation.

- Be conscious of time consuming distractions. Negotiate with your distracting pleasures by journaling, cut them off or set limits (an hour timer or something) -- tv, porn, games, sleep, youtube ect.

- Limit relaxing time with a timer

- JOURNAL a lot to regain full consciousness

- If you feel lost or lazy JOURNAL to regain full consciousness.

This is just the tip of the ice burg but hopefully I gave you something to go on.

@Ryan_047 Couldn't you make a job? Do some painting or staining and get to meet people in the community, maybe talk to them a bit about what they like(the whole make friends and influence people thing) and then get some career ideas. Wax on, Wax off...

@egoeimai  Join the club-_- Looking at volunteering or backpacking again myself, things really suck in Europe.
