Is Everything Really Made Of Consciousness?

@Leo Gura By "becoming more conscious" don't we mean becoming more aware?

This is like asking...
"Is every toaster really made of electricity?"

@Paintballer there is no external or internal world. It's all you. The separation you make is actually defined by you. If you don't see what I'm saying, just make a distinction as to where one ends and the other begins. Don't breathe, absorb radiation, bend light, shed skin, distort gravity or displace the unified field though, while you make your distinction, that wouldn't be fair.

The activity that happens in the subconscious mind is hard to qualify as thoughts since the subconscious mind talks with itself as processes in fragments of information according to the functions associated with the region of the brain. Different parts of the brain store different information and a thought is a collection of many bits of information from different parts of the brain that have been arranged in a coherent way for our conscious mind to recognize.

If we were conscious of all the activity of the subconscious mind it would overwhelm us to the point we would never be able to focus on anything because of the constant cacophony of gibberish from all the communicating of incomplete information that happens within the brain. It is only after the information and stimuli has accumulated to a substantial degree of relativity for us do we become aware of it in our conscious mind,

Awareness as we currently experience it is a part of consciousness but there is the philosophical and spiritual idea that awareness is the origin of all conscious being, so before there was even biological organisms to house consciousness there was awareness as consciousness without embodiment. This awareness of origin was the entirety of consciousness before the manifest even existed and the subsequent unfolding of the manifest existence produced the varying expressions of conscious activity that we currently acknowledge as consciousness.

If everything is made of consciousness why aren't all our thoughts conscious?

What I'm asking is  why are there subconscious thoughts

It's the motion of your attention.

That's why 'we' wanna educate the attention by various techniques.

The more the attention is educated to be deliberately on the things which the will wants, the more transformation of the subconscious into the consciousness will be possible and available.

If you are gonna ask the 'unconscious' now though? I'm out for now? see you later!?

But, it's important not to get confused about the definitions, what Leo wrote is important to keep in mind,

"You're thinking of consciousness as human awareness. That's not what is meant when we say everything is made of consciousness.

What's meant is more like: The substance of everything is no-substance, which is consciousness."

otherwise your fundamental sensation of life could get off-track, which seems as if it's not a big deal at all at first but, then people start to experience reflections of it unconsciously in their lives without understanding why they feel empty or unsatisfied..

@Leo Gura So, human awareness has nothing to do with consciousness?

@Mike Bison awareness is consciousness looking at itself.

Ask yourself "am I aware?"

If the answer is yes, how do you know that EXISTENTIALLY like assume nothing at all except for what is empirically there. So saying because you have a brain is an assumption. Pretend the world is just a bunch of colours and sounds.

If you answer honestly to how you know, you will get your answer. Hint, it involves consciousness.

Why are we not aware of subconscious thoughts? Why doesn't a movie play every scene at the same time? And every sound at the same time? Because for it to be a movie, it needs to play one thing at a time.

Why are you not aware of your subconscious thoughts? Because foe you to be aware, it must be possible to not be aware, which means you cannot be aware of everything at once. That would make being aware impossible

spiritual research is different from usual intellectual research because, in the former, knowing "things" from others won't get you anywhere.

you can ask as many questions you want to whoever you want. even to enlightened beings. no matter what is said, it won't help.

for this kind of research you have to realize that there's no ultimate authority except for your own direct experience.

so sit down and do the work. trust nothing else. attach to no story. give up on science. give up on religion. give up on buddhas.

and be patient. this process takes years. maybe decades.

@Prabhaker Can you link me to an article on asleep consciousness?

Consciousness is never asleep.

Do you believe every thought you perceive?
