Beckley Psytech releases positive clinical results for 5-meo-dmt
Today, Beckley psytech released initial results of a phase2a (mid-stage) clinical trial for treatment-resistant-depression using synthetic 5-meo-dmt.
To enter the study, participants must have clinical depression in which previous treatment options failed (such as SSRIs). Participants were given a single 10mg dose of 5-meo-dmt intranasally. 55% of patients were in remission at week 4 and 45% of patients were in remission at week 12.
This is the longest follow-up study for 5-meo-dmt. The sample size is small (12 patients), yet very encouraging. TRD is extremely difficult to treat, since standard treatments have already failed. 5-meo-dmt pretty much cured 50% of patients. Non-psychedelic treatments are nowhere close to this. The closest would be psilocybin - which has about a 35% success rate in clinical trials. Yet this involved multiple doses (two or three).
I find it interesting that a single 10mg dose was able to have such an effect. This seems like a relatively low dose (although it was intranasal, which may be a bit stronger than plugged).
As well, participants did not have to go through any lifestyle changes. They came into the clinic for two hours, received a single 5-meo dose and psychological support. And half the recipients were cured. . .

  2. US Political Spectrum Mega-Thread
    US Political Spectrum Mega-Thread
I worked with ChatGPT on coming up with a pretty detailed breakdown of the US political spectrum
    1. Far-Left/Radical:
This segment includes individuals and groups advocating for significant social, economic, and political change. They may support policies such as universal healthcare, free higher education, wealth redistribution through taxation, environmental regulations, and social justice initiatives. Some far-left groups may advocate for socialism or even more radical ideologies. Examples of Ideologies: Revolutionary socialism, anarchism, communism, libertarian socialism including hardline anarcho-syndicalism and hardline social anarchism, and extreme left-wing populism. Examples of Groups/Organizations: Socialist Alternative, Revolutionary Communist Party, USA, Antifa, TYT (after they became vitriolic), Secular Talk (after it became vitriolic), Majority Report (though a bit more reasonable than TYT, Secular Talk, and other progressive YT channels), Vaush (also a bit more reasonable than TYT, Secular Talk, and other progressive YT channels), and Rational National (before it became vitriolic). Examples of Individuals: Angela Davis (activist and former member of the Communist Party USA), Richard Wolff (Marxist economist and advocate for worker cooperatives), Jill Stein, Rashida Tlaib, Infrared (Haz), Eugene V. Debs., and Norman Thomas. Left-wing/Progressive:

Center-Left/Moderate Liberal/Liberal:
This group occupies a more centrist position, advocating for pragmatic solutions that balance progressive goals with fiscal responsibility and market-based approaches. They may support policies like a public option for healthcare, moderate tax reforms, and incremental changes to address social issues. Centrist Democrats often emphasize bipartisanship and compromise. Liberals typically emphasize a balance between individual rights and the role of government in addressing social and economic issues. They often advocate for reforms within the existing political and economic systems, supporting policies such as expanding access to healthcare through private or public means, promoting incremental changes to address social inequalities, and favoring market-based solutions alongside government intervention. Examples of Ideologies: Liberalism, pragmatic progressivism, center-left populism, and left-leaning Independents. Examples of Groups/Organizations: Progressive Policy Institute, Center for American Progress, other center-left think tanks, more moderate factions within the Democratic Party, labor unions, the Kennedy family (except RFK jr.), the Warren Court, Keynesian economics, New Keynesian economics, Social Venture Network (SVN), B Lab, Conscious Capitalism, Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE), Corporate Responsibility Association (CRA), and other center-left business networks, MSNBC. There is some overlap with examples of each of these Individuals, Ideologies, and Group/Organizations put in each of their respective categories, but I think this is a good start. Let me know what any of you have to add to this breakdown.
*Extreme/radical centrism actually hasn't been officially considered as being really within the center or anywhere else within the spectrum; however, one could argue that it would be at the very, very center of the spectrum, but it is just as dysfunctional as any kind of extreme/radical left-wing ideology or any sort of extreme/radical right-wing ideology, in its own way. I want to say that both Manchin and Sinema and other right-wing corporate Democrats like them have been contributing to the problems we have today that are usually attributed to radical centrism. No Labels definitely smells like a major contributor to extreme centrism and corporate extremism. Then again, populist movements can also emerge in the center of the political spectrum, advocating for reforms to address perceived government corruption, bureaucratic inefficiency, or political gridlock. Centrist populists may prioritize anti-establishment rhetoric and propose policies aimed at increasing transparency, accountability, and responsiveness in government.
**Given that the use of the terms far-left, left-wing, center-left, centrist, center-right, right-wing, and far-right/Reactionary officially didn't begin to be used until around the turn of the 20th century in the US, we (including the AI) can only make best guesses as to which political figures before around the year 1900 were in which category on the political spectrum. All of them before 1900 were probably either some kind of centrist or barely at the center-left or barely at the center-right, except for James Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, Thaddeus Stevens, and Frederick Douglass. James Buchanan and Andrew Johnson were staunch conservative presidents, right before and right after the Civil War respectively, both of whom strongly opposed civil rights for African Americans. Buchanan in particular was very pro-slavery, and was party responsible for the conditions that led to the outbreak of the Civil War. Thaddeus Stevens and Frederick Douglass, on the other hand, were probably firmly left-wing political leaders as they were fierce social justice warriors who fought like hell to abolish slavery and make the federal government grant all African-Americans American citizenship and every civil right/liberty.
***Nobody really knows what Trump is or what he truly stands for. However, he clearly is striving to be the dictator of the USA and is doing everything he can to escape justice for everything he has done.

  3. Report from 7-Day Kriya Yoga Retreat at Home
Report from 7-Day Kriya Yoga Retreat at Home
    Hi there,
    TL;DR in bold.
So I am just back from a solo meditation retreat. I wanted to go to Vipassana, but with all the surges in Covid cases in my country in the last weeks I had thought it might not be the brightest idea, so my room it is.
It started out as a mixed Vipassana/Kriya retreat, but slowly evolved into Kriya-based one. Yes, I am no good at sticking to the plan. Typical INFP guy here.
My Vipassana technique of choice was Shinzen Young's mindfulness with labeling, the "See, Hear, Feel" method. I like it more than the body scaning technique they teach at Goenka's Vipassana retreats. Shinzen Young is an inspiring person, too. It's thanks to him that I started to question if I am not undervaluing stuff like insight mediation and should give it more effort.
My Kriya routine is (I have had almost a year of a gap in practicing it and I am just getting back on track since the 1st January, practicing daily):
Preliminary Kriya Supreme Fire up to 20 minuntes Maha Mudra 3-12x SantataGamana's/Mukherjee's Kriya Pranayama with concentration at the Third-Eye 108-144x Self-Inquiry or concentration for 20-40 minutes at the end.
It takes up to 1 h 30 min to complete.
For Kriya Supreme Fire I use Wim Hof-like technique of doing 30 short, sharp inhales and exhales to oxygenate the body, It's super easy to hit 1 min 30 s or 2 min that way. I remember that using this technique I was able to hold breath for 3 minutes in year 2019. So I think that I will switch to full Kriya Supreme Fire soon after the retreat.
I had a problem with Vipassana. The problem was I had been constantly falling asleep and lucid dreaming or simply dreaming instead of actually meditating. So 2-hours meditation sit was effectively more like a 1-1.5 hour sit. I even had a dream of me meditating in one place and then after waking up I saw that I am in a completely different place. And I was like, "duh, why is it happening to me?"
I know why, it's because I had constantly been laying on the floor with a straight back to give my legs and knees a rest, but it turns out I am godlike at falling asleep at completely flat, uncomfortable floors. But I had to, the knees got such a beating before I started this retreat (I went biking for the first time this year and kind of got carried away), that I didn't want to risk any injury.
That's why I have switched to yoga only. You can't fall asleep doing yoga (probably, haha).
Here is my schedule for the first 2 days:
It's basically appropiated Goenka's Vipassana schedlue. I didn't know what I was doing when planning this up, just went with my mojo and put stuff in there. Too much physical exercise.
I had set up timers on my phone to remind me of the schedule and put it into extra-battery saving mode.
I then went to improve it for the next two days:
This was better, but still not right. The lesson I have learned is that doing Kriya that close before sleep can make falling asleep more difficult, yet I haven't corrected it during this retreat.
The schedule I sticked to the end of the retreat is such:
Yup, that's 400-600 Kriya Pranayamas a day. But I think this was still ineffective use of time. If I had to start again, I would cut physical yoga asanas (Iyengar) to 1h maximum. Do more sessions of Kriya, aiming for 800-1000 a day, no psychedelics. I would also try to all the Pranayamas as early in the day as possible, to crowd them in the morning and early afternoon. That would be it for a Kriya-themed retreat.
I will for sure experiment with other formats, like semi-retreat when I do yoga intensively in the morning and then go about the day as usual, work, etc., for a month. Or do 1-day intensives with 1728 pranyamas on Sundays, for example. 1728 x KP should take about ten hours, that's totally doable.
If anything, I could have structured this retreat so that I had 1728 repetitions of pranayama per day, yet as I have said, I didn't really know what I was doing there, before this retreat I was doing only 72 x KP per day and didn't know if there's a limit. There is no limit, one can go on and on and practice. The biggest obstacle is finding an assana to sit/lay in for ten hours with a straight back. I have heard you can drink water during the practice, preferably with ghee, but that sounds like a hindu dogma to me, haha. I would try to do it in "one sitting" from 5AM to 4PM and then rest.
What I am thankful to this retreat for is showing me the benefits of such a rigid time schedule. I think I will get serious about scheduling my normal days after this retreat in a similar manner. It's something I have never done really, but makes sitting down to do the practice super easy, because you are always well slept, nourished and at the right place when there's the time to practice.
About the psychedelics, I have thought that with so much time on my hands it would be interesting to try different routes of administration for DPT. I don't recommend doing that on a retreat, it's just something I have been curious about and couldn't find a better time to do.
So, vaping DPT freebase is easy, too easy. I have wasted like 200 mg because I didn't know how to vape. First, I have had problems with freebasing it, the stuff is a very sticky brownish oil and it's such a pain to manage. So after managing to put like 15 mg from the original 60 I have puffed it and felt threshold effects. After some time I tried to put a paste of DPT mixed with baking soda inside the vaporizer with a drop of water, it has worked, but the water was a problem, I had to carefully evaporate it at around 100C and don't know if that cooking hasn't destroyed some of the molecule. I don't know because when was about to take to take a puff from the vape, I forgot to empty my lungs. Before I have exhaled the air, the DPT has condensed on the glass and made everything dirty, I have only taken into lungs like 10% of the cloud and again felt light mood enchancement. That's when I gave up the method for now. Too much pain with freebasing it correctly and it leaves a smell in the room.
So oral administration it is. I have taken 200 mg put into capsule and the other day 300 mg. It works, works like a charm. So far the best ROA for this compound IMO. I have bought my DPT at $8 a gram so I don't feel like it's too wasteful to eat that much of it for one and a half hour of tripping. 200 mg is an equivalent of 45 mg insufflated (+ intensity) and 300 mg is similar to 60 mg insufflated or 110 mg plugged (++ intensity, Shulgin's scale), but with no clogged sinuses, bad taste or bleeding from anus. At least with my metabolism. I was scared because of the reports of extra long trips, like 6-10 hours from this ROA on very high doses, but it seems to not be case, it's a standard for DPT 1.5 hour duration, although I can't be sure of what would happen at a higher dose. I don't know anything about tolerance, maybe my 300 mg trip had been weaker because of the tolerance, dunno. Takes about 40 minutes to load when taken in a capsule (might depend on the capsule you have got).
What else I have been up to? Read SantataGamana's books, started Peter Ralston's The Book of Not-Knowing, indulged in the poetry of Ryokan and Rumi when had had a break from the meditation. Poetry totally recommended for a retreat, haha. Cooked some good food, worked on mindfulness in everyday activities, had a detox from the internet, video content, smartphone, messenger, etc.
    Results from the practice:
Feeling of a stronger control over the mind and its urges. Slightly elevated baseline level of consciousness. It's not much, but noticable. Learned to do Kriya Yoga well better. Found comfortable sitting postures. Some calm, spontaneus kundalini activity throughout the day. Improved concetration skills. That's it, nothing fancy, no extraordinary experiences.
Here are the sitting set-ups I recommend:

    1. For Maha Mudra and sitting with legs crossed/half-lotus. The tilt from the yoga block beneath is very useful and adds comfort by lowering the knees realatively to your hips.

    2. For additional comfort, put a blanket on top. It's good for cross-legged postion and sitting on your knees if you like to have knees close together and calfs apart.

    3. Put a zafu on the side to sit on your knees and have a support for you butt. This position is just as good as a zen sitting bench or maybe even better. You can put a stiff blanket on top to make it higher, but it has to be stiff, it can't be a soft one, because otherwise you will be sliding to the sides and forwards/backwards.
That's all I have had to share, much love and peace.

  4. How to deal with rage and wanting revenge?
How to deal with rage and wanting revenge?
Here are some recommendations from me. (* = My top recommendations)
    1. Try and run some *PSTEC click tracks. Its an NLP/ Hypnosis program which helps eliminate strong emotions linked to memories. (Bit hard to find online though maybe)
    2. *IFS therapy (Try and work with a therapist with a level 2 IFS training or above. Bonus if they also work as a program assistant.)
    3. Read *Pete Walker's CPTSD surviving to thriving (Also look into CPTSD in general)
    4. EMDR (If you have numerous traumatic memories, or they occurred over prolonged period, would prioritize IFS therapy)
    5. TRE exercises
    6. Psychiatric medication
    7. Journaling

Edward Frenkel's constructive criticisms to science
I was watching Edward Frenkel's interview and just wanted to share some of his constructive criticisms to science, that pretty much go in line with what @Leo Gura discusses in many episodes. In particular, he points out:
The tendency of experts to try and model the world using exactly the field they've learned (egoic bias as I'd put it -- he alludes to the behavior being comparable to what priests do in stage-blue societies): https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxL4oZCLVMQeMl9oqa2NG2OY1QovtN4ns_?si=nrI8LSmkJ_ie1i4W The dismissal of the value of subjective understanding (he also mentions how Quantum Mechanism and Gödel's Incompleteness Theorem -- proven since the first half of the last century -- have not yet pervaded popular common sense): https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxyuGuzVIcuSI-T1zY-0jFaFcvmwRXeJKG?si=mCAA50AMIFuJerEF In addition, he provides a simple and brilliant explanation of Gödel's Incompleteness Theorem, 100% worth watching.
It seems he's been watching too much Actualized.org

  6. Perfect Going Out Drug
    Perfect Going Out Drug
Then that is your deficiency  Some people are so relaxed that dopamine would probably be their only way to become more social. You should see the med student who conducts our brain dissection lab sessions. He is a walking brick wall 😆 (not in an autistic way).

On a slightly (un)related topic, I've been thinking a bit about the relationship between neuroticism (in the strictly emotional lability sense) and creativity which we talked about one time. I consider myself way above average in creativity, and I've always been highly neurotic. I'm high in openness too, yes, but the combination with neuroticism and openness I think creates a creative beast. My dad is like that (BP1 diagnosis, arguably the definition of openness + neuroticism). My friend from class is high in openness but comparably low in neuroticism (by my estimation), and he doesn't seem as creative in the strictest sense but certainly intellectually gifted. Same with the aforementioned med student.
Another slightly tangential thought to that, I had a wild idea that maybe sprinters or explosive athletes are more neurotic on average. It sort of makes sense that one's personality would be associated with some deeper biological traits like that. In other words, being able to quickly change your physiological state in terms of muscle fiber recruitment could be mirrored in being able to quickly change your psycho-emotional state (emotional lability). Maybe there could be some co-selection of genes going on there to create the optimal "fast" phenotype. Again, this is of course just wild half-baked speculation. I haven't looked into any potential data on that yet
Also, back to creativity, I say "in a strictly emotional lability sense" because I believe that even though I have severely reduced my more "Freudian" neuroticism (internal conflict, repetitive and irrelevant mental chatter), I still have a mind that changes quickly while zeroing in on a task. In other words, my mind finds more relevant information and faster. So in a sense, it's possible to distinguish between a more generally dysfunctional neuroticism and a more generally functional neuroticism: emotional lability with or without task-irrelevant mind-wandering. Then again, I'm not saying task-irrelevant mind-wandering is by definition dysfunctional; I'm just saying generally (most people in the modern would could certainly benefit to have less of it).
I hope I'm not derailing the thread 😳 (I got carried away, I'm sorry 😣; just ignore everything but the first paragraph if you're not Nilsi. This is what happens when I take breaks from the forum and post at night 🤭).

How powerful of a resource this would be?
Navigating vast field tested experience almost in a research paper like manner while omitting all the toxicity and ego by using a search function based in field reports, maybe even somewhat like Leo's blog Index was  created.
This would be a perfect job for Reddit

  10. This getting on my nerves, just do it.
This getting on my nerves, just do it.
I could be totally wrong but you sound like my twin replica.  (I guess this is what I would suggest to my twin me haha)
Read page 87-89 on Flight (or the entire book - I am actually on the section I just suggested haha but it sounds like a good fit actually):  https://blobby.wsimg.com/go/a7124a00-f63c-4010-bbdc-5020f1cf45aa/Complex PTSD_ From Surviving to Thriving ( PDF.pdf
I've been called a child and then looked this up and found this and then the book above https://www.michaelsamsel.com/Content/Individuals/adult_child_syndrome.html
Also, thoughts all the time could be high ideaphoria - it's a skill/talent/aptitude (I have it too)
I've quit jobs too but meh I think it was for the better and they were not something that utilized my strengths.
It's okay to go from doing a lot to doing nothing.  Sometimes seeking calmness when we feel too chaotic can be helpful - like trying to seek stillness, quiet, peace.  This book helped on accepting that: (read first paragraph starting with "Listen" on page 123 of pdf, 124 of the book text) https://www.perfectbrilliantstillness.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Book-from-PerfectBrilliantStillness.org_.pdf
What has also helped is noticing that the thoughts are not complete and will never necessarily be complete and that we can get trapped in thoughts like when we forget we are watching tv and to notice when oneself is so focused on thoughts and try to back out of that.
Ask yourself - what is going to be the most helpful immediate thing for me and start doing that.
It's okay to have all these different ideas you want to think about.  When that happens to me, I try to write all of them down and then pick one to think about and if I feel I have exhausted that one, I can then go to the next on the list.  Also what helps is typing it so you can write it faster and I guess I like writing because I can see/store the thought and don't have to keep on repeating it over and over again to hold it in my head.  Having a blog (I used wordpress.com, free) can help get those thoughts out.  I've also liked using Microsoft Paint for thoughts as I can use the text function and put them all over the place.  Also its cool to have a large dry erase board and write them on there but note that hand writing will be slower than typing.  Also tools like Scrivener are cool if you want to turn it into a book.  Also, Trello helps (free, Trello.com) for organizing activities and that is a kanban style thing.

How Socialization Makes You Stupid - Problems With Conformity & Group-Think
    https://youtu.be/gaI1OXly7EE
The dangers of conformity and group-think The speaker's experience with socialization and observations about its effects on their mind The speaker's struggle with socialization and realization that it goes against their values and interferes with their authenticity, original thinking, and pursuit of truth The idea that it is possible to socialize while still maintaining values and being authentic, but that it requires effort and may have hidden costs The concept of "socialization brainwashing," in which socialization pressures individuals to conform to certain values and beliefs Examples of socialization brainwashing, including the way schools and mass media promote certain viewpoints and the way social groups influence individuals' beliefs and behavior The idea that socialization can make individuals "stupid" by limiting their thinking and inhibiting their ability to think critically and independently The importance of maintaining a degree of independence and critical thinking in order to avoid being swayed by group-think and conformity The potential consequences of blindly following social norms and group beliefs, including the suppression of individuality and the potential for harm to oneself and others. On average, women are more social creatures than men Intellectual geniuses of history tend to be reclusive men (example given of Einstein, Newton, Tesla) Socialization takes time and energy away from intellectual pursuits When socializing, you become the average of the minds you are socializing with Even if you are socializing with intelligent people, you are subscribing to group think and conformity Socializing has a cost and trade-off, and it's important to understand and make a conscious choice about whether to accept those trade-offs It's important to find your own balance between socializing and solitude, and this balance may change at different points in life Being more social means more social conditioning and less original thought, and being more solitary means more time and space for original thought It's important to find a balance that works for you, and to be aware of the trade-offs associated with socializing. Groupthink occurs when people in a group do not think independently and instead bounce ideas off each other in an echo chamber This happens because it is difficult and stressful to think independently, and it is easier to follow the herd and trust in a leader Humans survive in a herd and construct self-serving narratives together, creating a synthetic augmented reality that becomes indistinguishable from physical reality Survival is shaped by the herd or tribe one is part of, and this can constrain and limit one's mind and intelligence, but also provide benefits such as education It is important to consider the costs and constraints that come with positioning oneself within society, such as working at Starbucks or becoming a professor at a university It is important to think about how one's position in society will impact their values and priorities, and to consider alternatives to traditional career paths One should strive to maintain their individuality and autonomy, and not be afraid to think and act independently It is important to be aware of one's own biases and the biases of the group, and to actively seek out diverse perspectives. The social matrix misdefines intelligence Intelligence is often equated with success, survival, socialization, academia, and left brain calculation abilities The speaker wants to redefine intelligence to include wisdom and love The speaker believes that if an action is not wise and loving, it cannot be considered intelligent The speaker believes that intelligence should align with infinite intelligence, which is wise and loving The speaker believes that society's current understanding of intelligence does not include this connection to infinite intelligence The speaker believes that true intelligence includes selflessness and the highest intelligence is love The speaker believes that society's current definition of intelligence is incomplete and needs to be revised to align with infinite intelligence Developing mastery of the mind requires practice and cannot be achieved solely through shutting off the mind or accessing non-dual states The mind is a powerful and dangerous tool that can be mastered through practice Other minds and culture can influence and affect one's own thoughts Avoid parroting phrases and ideas that are not your own, especially within the spiritual community Notice how the need for social survival can pressure one to conform to group think Engage in practices that allow for original, high quality thinking Cultivate deep intelligence by understanding things deeply and properly Develop the ability to jailbreak the mind and understand high levels of abstraction and relativity Practice meditation and mindfulness as a means of improving thinking processes Modern society offers a lot of freedom and tools for creators and innovators However, it is also easy to become distracted and conform to the "social matrix" To avoid becoming a "zombie" and to live a fulfilling life, it is important to think original thoughts and spend time alone thinking Reading books and watching videos, and listening to gurus can be helpful, but it is not the same as thinking original thoughts To practice thinking original thoughts, try picking a subject and thinking about it from scratch without consulting external sources Make a habit of regularly setting aside time for original thinking It is important to balance socialization and alone time to live a fulfilling life Contemplating God is important, but it's also important to have fun and be silly sometimes Don't use deep intelligence as an excuse to judge or criticize others for having fun or being social Don't rely on God to solve problems like loneliness, instead take action to create connections in your life Distinguish between shallow and deep non-conformity Shallow non-conformity is when you join a group or movement without thinking independently Deep non-conformity is when you pursue things you genuinely love and don't compromise your values and priorities Be careful not to demonize the mainstream or subscribe to conspiracy theories Don't turn Actualized.org into a trap, it's meant to be a resource for personal growth and development, not a replacement for original thinking

Balance of Creative Work & Rest
Possibility of getting oversatiated from over consuming personal development / spiritual content to the point of just consuming it
this results in not living life anymore as to not experience the whole range of life because the mind is still immersed and is not truly resting resting allows getting conscious & self-reflective of one's work by recognizing limitations from a detached birds eye view because of the contrast of work & rest Pacing oneself (resting, and working with the right endurance & speed) serves long-term sustainability of creative work output
all areas of life are better to be seen through the lens of sustainability ("Is this area of my life sustainable? If not, how can I make it sustainable?") undogmatic sustainability includes exhaustive unsustainable work in one area while neglecting other areas (temporary) Looking at one's life to be an apple tree:
apples are results result-oriented approach isn't healthy as only caring about the apples neglects the roots, trunk, branches, leafs... other parts of the tree are other areas of life that get neglected when one only focusses on the fruits of the work Creative work -:
is counterintuitive to manual work.  Being pragmatic & deadline oriented eats up creativity one is most creative (getting ideas & inspirations) when nothing productive is being done directed with deadlines gets practical (perfectionism is restricted) seems to be balanced when done in cycles of: working on a project finishing the project time off & resting work with less creativity needs smaller cycles (diurnally and hebdomadally rather than biannually or annually) Innovation
That what worked before will not be that which brings your work to the next level being stuck in your old ways of doing creative work will get your work outdated by the competitive innovative work of other creative people True Spirituality informs & transforms all areas of life like the way of doing creative work Role of requisite variety (RV) in life
Definition from Wikipedia, "If a system is to be stable, the number of states of its control mechanism must be greater than or equal to the number of states in the system being controlled." there is not enough RV used when one is stuck on any problem not enough RV manifests in a narrow uncreative approach troubleshooting with try & error has to be so much done that success is inevitable (through lateral thinking & trying out a wide range of solutions; there's now equal/higher RV than the problem) upholding identity is something that often holds back RV find root problems in your life and apply RV - one solution will work by chance Working on projects
requires focus  (eliminating all distractions, creating a working environment)

  18. Spiral dynamics is bs
    Spiral dynamics is bs
There is a potential problem with SD where it can feed into the (especially western) tendency to want to place humans on a hierarchy, which can be used to justify various forms of inequality and oppression/domination. I don't see this necessarily as an inherent quality of the model itself, but I see some real dangers in how it could be interpreted to feed into various ideologies. I think there is value in spiral dynamics and it shouldn't be demonized or dismissed outright, mostly the problems come when people start confusing the map for the territory. Even if someone says they are yellow/turquoise does not mean that they are in any way immune to this problem.
I also wonder, what is truly gained with the spiral dynamics model that can't be achieved through a non-hierarchical model like the Scwartz model of basic values?

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theory_of_basic_human_values

Here is also a nuanced discussion on the potential shadow sides of stage theories like spiral dynamics:
Ps. I am not anti-spiral dynamics, I just want to bring another perspective to this discussion, which I haven't seen much on this forum. The point is not to say that spiral dynamics is bad or should be dismissed, but to poke at the model from many perspectives to see if it truly is the best way towards what we see as valuable in understanding reality.

Am I becoming insane or that’s it ? I’ve already been 4times in psych ward. I’m certainly a little bit insane but I have reach very unrealistic states of consciousness through psychedelics and have a real taste for violence eventhough I hate it and want a peaceful world

Any recommendations for philosophy books for beginners?
I know about meditations of marcus aurelius and seneca, but i thats about it. And when i read meditations, i understand some thoughts, and others make no sense to me. I want to learn about philosophy as a whole, any suggestion would be much appreciated

  21. Thoughts on Dietician/Nutritionists
    Thoughts on Dietician/Nutritionists
Let me share my perspective as a MD who has worked in this field for the last 10 years.

Like in any other occupational category, you will find dieticians/nutritionists all across the competence-spectrum. I have worked with almost genius level individuals who managed to change peoples diets to a lifechanging degree and with a success/repition-rate almost unheard of in the medical field. I have also witnessed blatant incompetence, lackluster cookie-cutter diet plans completely unfit for the specific needs of the patient and especially in the online communities, dangerously off-evidence approaches that will shorten someones lifespan in the long run.

I think that outstanding performances in the medical field or in general, humanistic sciences boil down to a few, very distinct common denominators. Above all stands the validity of your treatment approach. As Hippocrates said 2500 years ago - "Primum non nocere" - which translates to "first, do no harm"! Is the thing you are doing (the new diet, the drug..) actually improving the patients life, or are you doing him worse? It's really bioethics 101. The next question that naturally follows: How do I know? And right here we to enter into the domain of science & scientific evidence. If you want to be an outstanding practitioner, then you need to be up to date with the best available evidence to the problem you are trying to solve. This also includes where science falls short. I have so many colleagues that just blindly trust everything that stands in a scientific paper, without critically evaluating the data at hand. In fact, a shitload of doctors are just algorhytmically following treatment guidelines without ever reading first hand evidence at all - which is good, because it brings everything to a pretty high quality baseline - but lack's nuance when nuance is called for.

The other extreme is what you see in the dietician-influencer sphere. The carnivore-nutritionist who tells people to not give a shit about their LDL-cholesterol is doing harm. Their approach is not based on a legit heuristic and it takes quite a lot of cognitive dissonance and avoidance mechanisms to keep up a completely ludicrous worldview. If you want to become a more heterodox dietician, then at least stay honest and engange with the arguments - have a strong "Why" for what you are doing.

Now my next point speaks to compliance. If you want to reach your patient/the person you are working with - if you want him to follow through with a new diet plan, then there are ways to influence that which are inside of your control. We have known for years that the exact same drug will increase/decrease in effect depending on the person prescribing it. Placebo effects are an often ignored part of todays medical practice - but it's  everywhere and all the time (almost like conciousness is fundamental ... ). The way you engange with your patient, the words you use, your vibe, the way you carry yourself, the motivational aspects you build into the conversation - all that and much, much more infleunces the outcome on the other side of the equation. The best nutrionists I have worked with have one very succinct feature: They care! They give a shit! They listen - and they actually try to find the best way forward for the individual sitting across them. This is the art of medicine. This is where the good and the great practitioners part ways. This explains why one nutritionist might have an 80% compliance rate, while others are at 20%.

This explains why some dieticians are highly respected by colleagues, doctors and patients, while others are deemed delusional or supbar.

Alright, and lastly - because you mentioned it. I don't know where this myth of doctors and pharmaceutical companies comes from. Very, very few doctors actually make money from selling big pharma drugs. You don't get money from that - at least not where I live. I have not recieved a single euro in my life from a pharma company. In fact, most of my colleagues are highly annoyed by pharmaceutical representatives who constantly come to the hospital and you need to sit through their boring presentation about their "!new wonder drug!". But hey, at least I can stock up on ballpens that way. Drugs just work. They do. It's fine to criticise our current medical paradigm that too often relies on drugs where real changes could be achieved through simple lifestyle changes - but then do that without enganging with conspiratorial arguments.

  24. Reincarnation and torture
    Reincarnation and torture
Ziewe has a legit Full Enlightenment experience description in his book "The Ten Minute Moment" which is very very hard to just make up in the form he describes.
Shhhh, or else the metaphysical Love=Absolute aficionados could get a challenge that suddenly a legit nondual realizer has had the Godhead-Absolute Reality-Love-Light realization as foundation of Reality/Absolute also, but on a more stable basis and not only a temporary state - and also values and emphasizes its importance a lot! Seen from that perspective, the only thing that is missing a bit is that Szyper starts talking about some advanced Alien-level-stuff, but you never know... ( :
By the way, Ziewe has some literal Aliens, and also some more metaphysical Alien-Level-realizations descriptions in his books (Multidimensional Man mainly).

  25. Reincarnation and torture
    Reincarnation and torture
If it is assumed that the side of the spectrum you mention is possible concerning reincarnation/other dreams (the bad ones), why not contemplate the other side of the spectrum (the good ones)?
Jürgen Ziewe, Multidimensional Man Jürgen Ziewe, Vistas of Infinity Jürgen Ziewe, Elysium Unveiled (breathtakingly beautiful) Robert Monroes books David Spandler, Subtle Worlds. An Explorer’s Field Note William Buhlman, all books Grof, Books of the Dead Manuals for Living and Dying Grof,Beyond Death. The Gates of Consciousness More on request Seriously, don't destroy your life with this horror-line of thinking and going down that rabbit-hole.
Consider especially taking a look at Jürgen Ziewes Elysium Unveiled. There are a few horror-scenarios inside (as with the other books also), but the rest is of breathtaking beauty.
If the possibility of other dreams in Infinite Consciousness/reincarnation is maintained, why not let the beautiful geenie (video above) also out of the bottle?
Of course, none of that has to be believed for realizing what Reality really is. The nature of Reality/Infinite Consciousness is always right here right now, covered by clouds of illusory separation/ignorance.
And what You really are can never be harmed (no moving parts).
