I’m not that old but he was easily my favourite pope in my lifetime. His commitment to refugees, peace, the environment and criticising excessive greed were always inspirational to follow. It’ll be interesting to see who comes next.

Rest in Peace, Bergoglio 🙏 😢

Oh no….when do they choose the next one?

I think more people should talk about this. Everybody is freaking out about tariffs but this is actually insane if you think about it. They are just grabbing people with little to no research, no trial, and deporting them to a foreign country to be imprisoned for life, probably (or die much sooner). And its not even doing it to people who migrated from Salvador. I've just read a news story about a guy from VENEZUELA who was waiting for the court to clear his asylum claim, but was sent to El Salvador, without any trial:

How does this make any sense? Imagine committing no crime and then being sent to a prison in a foreign country that you have nothing to do with, for life, basically. This is so messed up.

This is just a complete disregard for the rule of law and any idea of human rights. This is something that some 3rd world African country would do. How is it possible that the US just plunged to that kind of level of development just because of the change in president? Shouldn't there be more checks and balances to prevent this kind of stuff no matter how retarded the president is?

To be fair, the USA has a long history of pretty shady practices. Look up the bracero program. As part of it, legal Mexican Americans were deported to Mexico, on the basis of being Mexican.

It's Blue-Orange. Not much to say about that.

I think china is in the Goldilock zone for development. Huge population, increasing number of individuals getting educated, and actually caring about a national identity. While not directly colonized, china did get affected by the effects of colonialism, leading it to become a poor global south country. It was the need to prove to the world and bounce back to show the west that inspired them to work hard and become a prosperous nation. In fact it’s one of the few former 3rd world countries that completely decolonized. Point is you need a healthy base of blue for a society and nation to grow.

Cause they are white. The usa super power secretly dictates who is allowed to have them. They say white people over brown cause usa is white. Its about to get more white too.

lol not all Jews are white, but yeah I get the idea. The state of Israel and the top positions are mostly filled by European Jews. This was always the case. When Israel formed with the help of the British empire, they essentially needed a European island in the Middle East to keep on eye on the affairs of the region. Many of the early leaders of Israel were in high positions in European society before that, and many often played a role in colonial missions on behalf of many of these European powers. Giving them power over a land with the harmless intention of wanting a Jewish homeland gave the western powers relief, in that they always have “second eyes” in that region. What I’m saying is that Israel is basically a continuation of a European imperial government, just run by Jewish individuals rather than Christian individuals. Even non European Jews suffered a lot during the early years of Israel nationhood. Discrimination against Arab Jews was commonplace, along with burning of entire villages and forced assimilation. Look I’m not undermining antisemitism and the pain and torture Jews have felt in Europe for centuries, but I also think cultural norms are a thing. The European Jews at the time of the creation of the Israeli state held very Eurocentric, colonial attitudes about the local population at the time.

another note - I am not against a state for the Jewish people. I believe the Jewish people are in the right to trace their roots to this land, as most Jews do have Levantine dna, even if it’s from thousands of years ago. However the model that the state of Israel is following is still a Eurocentric, imperialist model, one to serve western interests in the region.

Pakistan and Afghanistan are made up of so many competing ethnic groups and tribes, how they have a nationstate is beyond.

    For those ignorant...

BLA is the Balochistan Liberation Army, an armed group which seeks to give the Baloch people, an ethnic group in Pakistan, their own state and to secede Balochistan, a province in Pakistan (see image below), and make it its own country.

Similar thing going on in Iran as well. They to make a baloch state.

Then can we also ask all territories in Russia they want to stay with Russia or move closer to the EU or have more democracy or become independent?

Ideally, but one difference. Putin is a psychopathic dictatorial maniac, and zelensky is a president of a nation in desperation due to putin’s actions. You can’t reason with a bear.

It is hard to say. I don't know.

I have grown more and more supportive of Ukraine in the last year. Intitially my position was biased towards neutrality.

Realistically, only way to get Putin to compromise is to supply Ukraine with more weapons and support until Putin weakens at home.

I would give Ukraine hundreds of billions probably and try to get EU to ramp up their militaries and factories.

Putin will only listen when he hits a brick wall.

Why not put it to a vote in Ukraine? The eastern parts of Ukraine are overwhelmingly Russian speaking parts, and feel close culturally to Russia. If I were president of the United States, I would pressure Zelensky to put it to a vote. If Donbas and other eastern regions of Ukraine vote in favor of Russia, let Putin take those regions. It’s a beautiful thing Ukraine has called democracy.

  8. What the fuck is going on…….im sick and tired of European Jews playing victim, but perpetuate white supremacy all the time. Like how crazy is it that whiteness can separate a group of people who have been persecuted worldwide. This is actually really sad. Here I thought that European Jews were the whites who would not pull this shit, but I was wrong. The fact that the nazis and far right like these guys is crazy and shows you just how shallow minded these guys are. If anyone 80 years in Germany supported Israel and Jewish supremacy, they were immediately met with the gas chamber. But today those same guys applaud racist Zionist scum. Yeah….im against antisemitism and spreading antisemitic violence, but based on our countries trajectory, it feels like Israel has taken over our politics, planted Jewish far right figures in power, and now making our country like their oppressive government. Yeah, it’s a conspiracy, and I’m not against everyday jewish people, but against Zionism.

I'm not disagreeing with you. You seem to be under the impression that I am.

I was just telling you that I was responding "Haha" to @Basman and responding to his funny Family guy meme about teachers.

I agree that all workers should unionize.

What I was saying to you earlier is that some white collar jobs do have unions. I was a teacher in the past. And when I was, I considered joining the union.

    Cool

  10. Hear me out. With the current economic situation, your average software engineer, accountant, or any entry/mid level professional deal with job insecurity, uncertainty, and high exceptions from corporate leaders for their interests. Since unions were formed in the 19th century to protect factory workers from exploitation and greed of robber barons, why can’t we have something similar in the modern era for white collar employees as well? Why can’t we have a software engineer union, or an accountant union which gives your average working professional the infrastructure of support and legal backing during times of unfair and unclear corporate decisions? It would be nice if there was an entity that represented employees and demanded transparency from management for employees. Thoughts?

Ok then you should go to Poland and shoot at immigrants who just want a better life.

I think especially with the Eastern European countries that don’t have a history of colonialism and are still grounded in their indigenous cultures, it’s not fair to force them to allow and integrate thousands of migrants whose culture is different from theirs. There is no legacy of immigration to these countries as there is with the UK even, where in the past many migrants have settled from former colonies and other European countries. Much of the infrastructure in these countries are not built for immigration, but rather their own population (the same way the Congo government is for the Congolese and not for random migrants from another random part of the world).

Poland has recently passed a law, allowing immigrants attempting to cross illegally to be shot on the spot.

They claim that Poland has the lowest crime rates because of their strict immigration policy.

Honestly with Poland, it’s not a country built on immigrants but rather its own population. From their own sense of stage blue cultural conservatism, I can understand where they are coming from. However this would not make sense in countries built on/dependent on immigrant labor such as the US and Canada.
