    @IJB063 Aspects of the brains reward system are set at birth,  people use specific brain regions more often then others. It is draining for them to use there brain any other way. MBTI is about the brain regions people use predominantly to function in the world, it is not about the behavior/character they act out. This is why we see the same personalty type with people with completely different personalities.  MBTI does not track behavior. Its about the root of the persons brain structure.

    What is personality about if not behaviour?

    Is MBTI not about personality?

    Can people not change what “brain regions” they use?

    What does that even mean?

    @IJB063 Yes I agree, some can not be stamped as one type. But there is a reason this test is so popular. People really resonate with it. It doesn't mean you're stuck with the same one forever, of course it changes over time, as do people.

    People resonate with a lot of bullshit

    e.g. Astrology

    Doesn’t mean it’s true, it just appeals to some base “I’m this” impulse

    Also I think a lot of people have the misconception that they are stuck as there type, and if you’re type can so easily change it’s useless really to identify and resonate with it

    Romantic Love=conditional Love.

    Since I always enjoyed testing, figuring stuff out.

    When I want to break up with girlfriend this is what I do. Some of the stuff.

    • Placing empty wallet in front of her on desk so she can see it.
    • Placing minimal amounts of food in fridge
    • Complaining about future
    • Dressing badly
    • Calling her and asking her how she is.

    Etc

    All love is conditional that’s the point of the thread

    Why don’t you just grow some balls and tell her you’re breaking up with her instead of doing all this manipulative bullshit

    Wrong, these are the beliefs intuition gets you with out actual depth in the subject. There is evidence of personalty types found in DNA, its born. The version of mbti you've been exposed to is popular culture bullshit, a better version is called "Objective Typings", that expands mbti to 512 types. Its highly accurate. Also mbti is one map of many to understanding human behavior. All the maps can be merged/interconnected to produce an incredibly  accurate model. For the other maps look into integral theory.

    People are not unique. The patterns are absolutely there you just need to put the work in to see them.

    I’ll look into objective typings

    Can you link some resources to this, also is there some test or way to firgure out your 512 type?

    I agree, people aren’t unique and we can definitely categorise them, my point is that MBTI is a shit pop culture way of doing so that is popular for the same reason astrology is, it’s chick crack, chick crack shouldn’t be taken seriously.

    Personality type is not completely fluid. You will have same eye movement type for a whole life. MBTI is simplified version of Socionics to make it more useful for business purposes. MBTI is just a test. Disciptions of types are very crude and assume you use only 2 main functions which is untrue.

    The problem with big five is that it's based on quantity and it doesn't explain "why?". You will get much more by understanding interplay of cognitive functions in your personality.

    What does eye movement have to do with your personality?

    I never said completely fluid, but it’s more fluid than solid

    “Disciptions of types are very crude and assume you use only 2 main functions which is untrue.“

    I agree with that

    You can research why, the job of the test is to tell you what you are not why you are what you are. That you can research or contemplate yourself, it’s not going to spoon feed you.

    Interplay of cognitive functions, yes I agree with this but it MBTI does a substandard pseudoscientific job at this.

  7. Update

    [20/06/20]

    Finished the dopamine detox, it was a lot harder than I expected, this is the longest I’ve done it, before I’d only had done it over the weekend

    Some quick notes of the top of my head, I failed yesterday, so I wouldn’t even consider the whole dopamine detox a success, I just caved in and said fuck it, and I failed a few times throughout the week, checking my phone quickly, going on Facebook, listening to music, it started out from first I let myself play online chess, at the start I didn’t want to use the internet whatsoever, but I gave myself that exception, when things got really boring. Than I said I can use YouTube to watch music tutorials so I can practice guitar over the week, but when I allowed myself on YouTube I inevitably started watching stupid videos that I shouldn’t have. Over all I hugely cut of most of my bad habits, I hadn’t played VideoGames the entire week until yesterday, neither had I watched TV. I haven’t drink alcohol or smoked week this entire week.

    What I found difficult is with Covid shutting everything down I’ve been stuck in the house, with nothing to do besides play VideoGames and watch TV etc... so to eliminate that leaves me with a lot of time with nothing to do. I can meditate the entire day, neither can I exercise, so the entire first 3 days most of the day was spent doing literally nothing, it’s strange to see how nuch time I spend on my phone or in front of a screen, it’s actually pretty warped when you think about it.

    @kag101

    I think I agree with what you said Kag, repression creates obsession.

    Though I don’t think there is anything bad with avoid stimulating as I do feel better over all, it’s just it was a constant battle and I did backslide. I watch that video at some point today, thank you for the recommendation

    Overall I might attempt something like this again but I’m going to plan what I’ll be doing in the days better, and I think it would be better if I remove my phone, computer or TV from the house to stop the constant temptation to use these things.

    @Aquarius

    Congrats, you made it a full day, you did better than I expected

  8. Looking at the forum I’m seeing a lot MBTI stuff and I just wanted to say MBTI is astrology for smart people, the reasons it’s appealing is the same reason astrology is. It’s entertainment not science or anything that should be carved into a stone tablet. You know why it’s appealing, because whatever answer you get you’re just a cool guy at the end of it. You’re never gonna come back after taking the highly scientific five minute MBTI test and get the result “you’re a dickhead”. You know why, that would undermine whoever runs that site business. Who I’m sure makes millions from it. But there is the fact that you may be incredibly mediocre or in fact a dickhead, those people exist and are arguably in the majority.

    MBTI is a business, and it is not scientific, I remember reading that the average half life on an MBTI test is six weeks, six weeks, what does that say, the fact you can take the same test different times and get different results. If you have a result now, just wait a little over a month and you’ll probably have another.

    Also personality is not static it is highly fluid, you can change, if you’re more introverted you can in fact become more extroverted, if you’re more of a person lost in thought you can become more of a person in touch with your emotions. You aren’t a fixed thing. So don’t take your result seriously.

    Also fuck Carl Jung, can we abandon these ancient fucks, we now have the internet and exist in the 21st century, why do we elevate such antiquated people. Yes he had some interesting things to say, but he also had a lot of incredible goofy things to say as well, there are more interesting and intelligent people alive to day than Jung.

    If you want to get a better understanding of your personality take the big 5, I know it’s not as fun but is has more of a scientific real basis, not a pseudoscienctific one like MBTI, and also if youre an innovative guy, break down the possible results into archetypes and personality’s like that book lover, warrior, king etc... and make some money from suckers who enjoy labelling themselves and comparing themselves with others, maybe you to could make the next MBTI and roll in that cash.

    Anyways godbless

    I recommend getting a capsule filler for supplements. Filler costs below $20 and bag of 1000 capsules costs around $8. Sometimes you can save tons of money by buying powder form. 0 capsules capacity is 500 mg but you can also put 200 mg there if you don't compress.

    Where do you buy filler, or powder?

    I might do this

    @Tarzan @Arzola @Austin Actualizing

    “Did you know that BuyModa.org can ship from within the UK to other UK addresses and the EU easily?

    We also have shipping originate points in Singapore and India. Depending on your country (Estonia, France, Spain, Australia, England, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia etc), we ship from the originating country with the highest probability of clearing customs hassle-free.”

    Can You Order Modafinil Online?

    “Because of various regulations, ordering pharmaceutical products online is not often encouraged. Modafinil is one of the popular drugs that people want to order online regardless of their local legality. Modafinil is a prescription drug in most countries; you typically need a doctor’s prescription to order it online otherwise it is illegal. There are many online pharmacy stores such as BuyModa where you can easily order Modafinil online without prescription but doing so is entirely at your discretion.“

    In the UK a prescription is required, I’m thinking out purchasing moda, despite that but it’s 1) expensive 2) illegal and 3) long delivery perhaps even with the possibility of it getting caught with customs and I have to try to get refunded, it all seems like a huge pain in the ass, though if I get some more money I might try it out in the future

    @Nash

    Noted I’ll look into it

    Thanks for the replies
