What is Eat Healthy?

The idea that you need to master your nutrition to be really happy.

Why is it Important?

Eat healthy so you are free of debilitating diseases, have energy, mental capacity, age well, and feel well. If you destroy your body with low-quality food, you can't perform, you'll waste lots of money, and you will be in physical pain.

Eat Healthy: Key Points

Top leverage points for diet:

  • No refined sugars: no sugar, no soda, no desserts, no products with corn syrup.
  • No trans-fats
  • Shop by ingredient label only and avoid all synthetic, artificial, unhealthy ingredients
  • No foods with high Omega-6: canola oil, safflower oil, etc.
  • No grains: wheat, corn, rice, pasta, bread, etc.
  • No soy, no beans
  • Organic whole food: organic eggs, organic grass-fed meat, organic veggies, organic fruits, organic unpasteurized dairy
  • Lots of veggies, assortment of colors and types
  • Not too much fruit because it has lots of sugar
  • Very limited or no diary
  • 1/3 carbs, 1/3 protein, 1/3 fat is the basic paleo diet ratio
  • No alcohol, or at least very clean alcohol like vodka

Proper diet is about managing logistics. What are you going to eat when you are low on food, running late for work, you kids are starving, you're traveling in another state, etc. You need to strategize and plan for these cases so you're not thrown off track.

Make the commitment that your body is your temple and you refuse to pollute. Actually care about your body. Not just how it feels or looks, but just because. Care about your body. Be sad when its damaged.

Paying more for quality foods is okay. Think of it as an investment. It's one of the best investments you'll ever make. Even if organic food is x2 more expensive, you will be paying an extra $300-$400/month on quality food. But how much will surgery or drugs cost you 20 years from now after you develop cancer or heart disease? How much will you lose in productivity form sick days or feeling low energy? If you can't afford quality food right now, strategize to dig yourself out of the hole soon. It is not hard to find a job that will allow you to eat the highest quality food available. The reason you're not eating healthy is that you don't believe the long-term value is there.
